sitting up unassisted

DS is almost 7.5 months old and he is still working on being able to sit up alone. he can do it just fine 90% of the time but often ends up falling over when he goes to reach of something or leans back too quickly.

plus, he still seems kind of wobbly to me...

other than letting him sit up as much as possible, is there anything i can do to help him sit up alone? he gets lots of tummy time already and loves rolling around.

Re: sitting up unassisted

When he is the sitting position, put your hands around his waist holding him down to give him a good center of gravity. I did that with Abby and she's been sitting unassisted for a couple of weeks. But, I would let him fall over everyonce in a while as long as he is on a soft surface and safe. Good luck.

Definitely show him how to put his hands down in the tripod position. One thing that really helped DS (I think) was putting the boppy around him while sitting on the floor. If he fell he had a cushion and he was able to sit longer. After doing it for a few days he was able to sit. Could have been coincidence but I did it with both DC.

Re: sitting up unassisted

DS is 6.5 months, and I don't seeit happening any time soon either.... he can sit on the couch, but after 5-10 min he'll topple over.... and he can't sit without back-support.

the boppy works for him too
