Skim Coating Walls?

Hi everyone!

We recently hired a contractor to skim coat a few rooms in our house. He was recommended by a relative so we trusted him completely. I made the mistake of not thoroughly inspecting his work before paying him and each day I'm finding more and more imperfections in the wall - little holes, lines, even some clumps of spackle. He said we will need to sand the walls with 150 sandpaper, like any painter would do. I thought the whole point of skim coating was to get the walls super smooth?! Should I call him up and complain? Ugh.

If he skim coated, you should not have to do a thing. That is the point!

We had our walls skim coated and we didn't need to do anything at all. I would complain for sure.

We had our whole first floor of our house skim coated. They assured us that all we had to do was paint when they were done.

My contractor Will be getting a phone call from me tomorrow. (And he had better come back and fix our walls for free!)
