Re: Skin Tags

I have never had one but I know a lot of people go to the Derm to get them taken off 1-2-3

Re: Skin Tags

I have had a few taken off at the dermatologist. I can't even tell where they were. I have some more that need to be done but they are tiny and I just haven't made the time. I will be going soon because I have heard that if you wait until you have several, a doctor may not want to remove them all in one office visit. They want to bill for more visits, etc. My new dermatologist doesn't seem to be that type but I will go soon anyway. Removal barely hurt. It would have been more painful for me to pull them off myself.

PS...There were some that appeared during my pregnancy and then disappeared on their own. Now one of them is back but it is still a lot smaller than it was during pregnancy. Most people tell me that they have never heard of them disappearing but trust me, I inspected the areas so closely where I had them because I didn't believe it!!!!!!! If you can give it a few months maybe you will get lucky, too!!!!!

Do you know if insurance covers it? I never been to a dermatologist before and did it hurt?

Thanks!! Chat Icon

Re: Skin Tags

check w/your ins. Derms are specialist but shloudl be covered. Dr. numb (or freeze) the flap and slice or clip if off.no discomfort.

Unless its infected I don't think insurance covers the removal of skin tags. Its considered cosmetic.

Re: Skin Tags

I had one on my neck that was taken off by my necklace during indoor go-karting. Chat Icon Maybe you can try that method. It was at Strike in NHP. Chat Icon

Re: Skin Tags

Probably not covered unless the doc thinks it looks suspicious and then has to send it out for biopsy.

Worth a consult which is covered.

Not skin tags, but I had some small blood blisters removed by the dermatologist and she put them down as a biopsy so they were covered by insurance.

My Moms nail tech. tied a string around hers but it never fell off. She finally went to the derm. and had it removed.
