Sleep help/advice for 6 month olds...
I have twin boys that are still waking up once a night for a feeding. People keep telling me to let them cry it out since they should be sleeping through the night. The problem is if one wakes up I sleep feed the other so I am not up again in an hour. I work full time and it is easier for me to feed them for 5 minutes then to listen to them cry for 2 hours. I am at a loss here because I dont know what to do anymore. I tried a couple of times to let the one that is up cry it out then all I end up with is 2 screaming babies. I live in a co op so I feel horrible that my neighbors have to hear them as well.
Can anyone give me some advice and what they would recommend....People make me feel like I am screwing up my children by feeding them at night...

You aren't screwing them up you are a great mom!
Dont listen to anyone else
My yougest since she hit her 7 month birthday still wakes once a night for a feeding, it's the only thing that calms her and she goes right back to sleep.
Everyone was telling me the same thing as you! I asked my PED and he said what's the issue? She's waking up hungry, feed her, we won't be hurting her or training her for a feeding and she'll grow out of it. He said some babies just need to eat at night and can't go that long stretch without some food.
I'm approaching 9 months old and she still wakes up to eat once a night around 5am. I feed her the bottle in her crib and she rolls over and goes back to sleep with seconds of finishing it.
I dont' believe in CIO, especially if the baby is waking up needing soemthing, crying is their only way of communication.
ETA: Extra food/cereal/formula during the day, didn't do a thing for us, she still wakes up starving! It's so frustrating, but i just pray she grows out of it soon. My doc keeps assuring me of that, and that the extra 6 ounces at night are putting her exactly where she should be for her age.
hang in there

Re: Sleep help/advice for 6 month olds...
i guess im screwing up too then, b/c my dd is 6m sat, and she just started waking up at night again, and i been feeding her. I tried the whole let her be thing and after an hour and her still not falling back to sleep, i give up and give her bottle. Once she gets the bottle she passes back out.
My problem im dealing with the last 2 nights is shes waking up 3 hours later for another bottle.
I was told if you make sure they are fed alot during day then their most likely to sleep through night. Last night i gave her cereal before bed. so im going to see if doing this every night will help.

Re: Sleep help/advice for 6 month olds...
They usually eat dinner, which has cereal at 5. They go to bed between 7 & 7:30 with a 8 oz bottle that has cereal in it, which they never finish. Usually they wake up between 2 & 3 so they are sleeping around 6.5 hours before they wake up and drink the bottle. Once they finish what they want they also roll over and go right to bed and wake up any where from 6-8. So really the feeding is about 10 minutes long. The last time I met with the dr which was 2 months ago she told me that they were sleeping a long time and that it was fine if they woke up once for a bottle.
I guess I am tired of people always saying my baby sleeps I cant believe yours doesnt..It seems like most babies wake up..The bottle is the only thing that calms them down since they refuse the pacifier.

Don't listen to anyone else, i know easier said than done, but every baby is different. People just think they know better than you cause they are lucky.
My oldest NEVER woke up for a feeding since she was 7 weeks old, slept 12 hours and still does. My youngest doesn't, so does that mean i did something wrong-nope, it just means my youngest needs some food to make it through the night.
Tune them out! yes them to death! Tell them how lucky of you and move on.
Your doing great! I know they won't be waking up forever to eat

It is perfectly normal for 6 month old babies to wake for one night feeding. I really recommend the book Healthy Sleep habits Healthy Child.I learned a lot from this book.

I could have written this post myself!! Well except for the part about the twins.. DD is still waking up in the middle of the night for a feeding and she'll be 6m soon. I tried the CIO and I was up for 2 hours with non-stop screaming and ended up giving her a bottle anyway.
Yesterday she had 5 tablespoons of cereal, about 1/2 a jar of baby food, 1/4 of a banana and a frozen strawberry about 2 hours before bed AND she went to bed with about 6 oz of formula with rice in it and she still woke up about 4 hours later for some food!!!
Your not the only one!!
