Sleep Sack vs Swaddle
Yes, I know I am annoying and all my questions are sorta various wordings of the same thing-- but I need advice!
I started swaddling Sasha for naps once I really tried to get her to nap, in her crib, every 2 hours or so. I noticed that she wasn't letting herself fall asleep, etc. It really made a difference.
We have also been sleep training, and last night was our first full night without the swaddle. I decided to give it a try and see how long she lasted. She woke up 3 times, plus a 4th at 5AM, which I fed her. But she wasn't going insane when she woke, so I think we may be on the road to improvement.
I just tried to get her down for her first nap without the swaddle- and after 20 mins of fighting sleep, I swaddled her and she fell asleep pretty quickly.
Is it ok to wean off the swaddle at night, and still keep for naps? I am not really sleep training for naps yet-- will tackle once she is STTN. I don't want to confuse her-- but she has always been a better night sleeper than day sleeper. AND, she is a much happier baby now that I have been really getting her to nap regularly, albeit short naps.

Re: Sleep Sack vs Swaddle
Personally, I'm all for doing what works for you! If the swaddle for naps and the sleepsack for bedtime works, stick with it! Maybe eventually she'll wean herself from the swaddle for naps since she sleeps w/o it at night.
ETA: For the record, my DD was a baby who NEEDED to be swaddled for naps and bedtime...I can't remember when we stopped, but I feel like she was at least 5-6 months old.

I think it is ok to still swaddle for naps.

Re: Sleep Sack vs Swaddle
i guess it depends on your baby. i know with DS, it's all or nothing. with CIO, swaddling, the pacifier - i had to either do it all the time or give it up cold turkey.
i took the swaddle away 4 weeks before doing CIO. it stunk and first but within 3 days he was sleeping much better. he was about 4 months old and still had the startle reflex but he learned to deal with it.
ETA: a related post just reminded me of an idea - can you put her arms inside the sleep sack? that might get her used to not being swaddled.

Re: Sleep Sack vs Swaddle
ok-- I just didn't want to do any "sleep damage", but I think this is what will work for her for the time being.
Thanks for the input!

I think she did pretty well last night-- I was really surprised.
But just now for naptime, I know she NEEDS it. And she needs to nap too-- so to me, that's the most important.
If she is sleeping at night without it-- should she continue to progress, than naptimes will fall into place. I think she just chooses to fight sleep much more during the day. She doesn't want to miss anything.
