Sleep training a 21 month old?
I have no clue what to do here... Sash sleeps so inconsistently, she just snaps out of these wakings. But for the last week, she has been waking up EVERY night in the middle of the night. I finally let her CIO, and I made two hours before I went in. As soon as I am with her-- she's fine, smiley, even-- and i get her to go back to sleep.
Last night I made it an hour and just said f*ck it, I don't want to listen to this for another hour.
But letting her CIO isn't working!!!

Re: Sleep training a 21 month old?
I think she MAY be getting the 2yr molars, because she has a little more saliva (she never drools) and is lip smacking a little-- but, she doesn;t seem distressed. I have given her motrin, and she still wakes up.
Don't think she's sick-- no evidence of anything there either.

IMO - she's playing you. If she's smiling and happy once you are in there, she's getting what she wants. The first time might have been a bad dream or something, but since then she now knows how to get you in there. We go through the same thing with DS from time to time. The only thing that works is to let him CIO, even if its for hours. Usually the next day he won't do it again.

ITA. I think she's playing you. She's been having sleeping issues on and off for a while if I remember? I think she knows what she's doing. I don't know if I'd be able to hear her cry for that long as well, but I think I would have to do it one night just to see if it works, bc I think she is totally toying with you

I agree!! My one son will do that. If he wakes one night and we go in, I guarantee he will wake the next night. I won't go in the 2nd night and he tends to fall back to sleep.
