Sleeping without miracle blanket
I am trying to stop using miracle blanket because ds breaks out of it anyways and he seems too long for it at this point... last night was a disaster, he woke up at 2:30am and wouldnt go back to sleep (he slept on his tummy on the couch from 8pm to midnight when I decided to put him in his crib).. finally I had to put him in a swing and he slept till 6:30am... any tips? ideas?

Re: Sleeping without miracle blanket
ugh i know how "scary" this can be! we just did it last week and basically just went cold turkey with it. DD was not sleeping well with it anymore so i figured how could it be worse? we put her in the sleep sack which works great. she cried a bit more than normal at first but finally went to sleep and slept really well! it's been a week now and the MB is no longer! it was easier than i thought it would be-i think i needed it more than DD did!

does she still startle herself out of sleep with her arms? thats the major problem, he swings his arms and wake up or hit himself...

that was my concern too! however, at 4 months she doesn't flail her arms as much. at first she did seem restless but after a few naps & like 2 nights it wasn't a problem so much anymore.

If you want to still use the blanket, you can keep your baby's feet out of the pouch and still wrap the upper portion of his body. I did that for a while after DS was too long for the blanket, but was still too young to go unswaddled.

We did this too, it allowed us to keep swaddling until five months or so, and then they just slept on their stomachs and were happy as clams.

Re: Sleeping without miracle blanket
We just stopped swaddling DS on Sat. That was a horrible night. Up every hour!! Sunday was better. Just up 3 times, which is one more then usual. Now he is sleeping like he has been for the past month or so- 2 wake ups.
