small victory...

I am not sure if you follow, but my hubby and I are not eye to eye on AJ giving up the bottle. Odd since just this week he said “She needs to stop using the paci – her teeth” umm duh!Chat Icon

He gets a bottle ready for her as soon as she’s home for daycare. I hate this. I try to distract her etc but if she whines enough he makes me feel like crap, puts more pressure on me, makes me the bad guy and yes.. I give in. Not just once but TWICE cause he swears she needs a bottle to go to sleep. Says she’s too young to give it up completely. 15mo mind you.

But I won a small victory last night. He kept her occupied as I cooked up diced veggies and made meatloaf. She ate her ‘after school snack’ of cubed chicken and water (splashers by gerber).

He kept her busy with TV and Youtube and (THANK YOU LIF) knee bouncers .com. I refused to make her bottle. I took over distraction duty and we played etc. I had a nasty call to take that took up some time and kept her occupied to see Mom angry at the phone (hahaha). Still no bottle and no evening nap.

She was cranky no doubt and throwing some tantrums which immediately my husband says “She wants her bottle” or her paci which I took away from her. She was whiny but I kept it up and played with her to distract her.

Finally close to 9 we eat dinner and she has some meatloaf but you could tell she was dropping off to sleep. So I put her down on our living room floor with her pillow, a blanket and her lovie (a towel) and rubbed her cheek and you saw her eyes droop shut. I do allow a paci to fall asleep but once she’s asleep it falls out anyway.

So.. although my hubby had the bottle prepared.. I FINALLY when through a full day with not a SINGLE bottle!

Ugh.. now to replay this battle tonight!
