Re: Snow

Been coming down heavy in Stony Brook since about 9am. Sticking to everything, looks so pretty.

Three Village Schools are open but I just got the news they are having an early dismissal due to the inclement weather.

It's likely more schools on LI will do the same so those with kids make sure to check the school's website. Chat Icon

Snow

Our son's school has conferences today and tomorrow, so they already had early dismissal scheduled. I'm glad!

Re: Snow

The schools here are closed. It is rather bad out here. I just went out with my kids to let them play and then they helped me shovel. There is a lot of snow out here - at least 3.5 inches of wet dense snow. It has been snowing steady from 7 am and they say it will snow until 4 pm. The plows have only made one pass on our street and the road is now covered again.

Are any Long Island schools closed?

For this?! I sure hope not!

I actually work at a school and we are definitely not closed.

I know it's the first real snow of the year and all, and it's coming down fast right now but the projected 2-4 inches really isn't a huge deal.

But what do I know, I'm Canadian Chat Icon

lol seriously!! Everyone on my fb page is going crazy and I'm thinking relax, it's 2 inches!!!!!! I love how people make such a big deal out of it. People upstate would totally have a field day making fun of is for it!!

My sister lives in buffalo and always makes fun of us down here

Just I would make fun of my friends in the south freaking out when it hits 60 degrees.

But it will get icey later and that is why schools are closing early.
