The weather channels are all over the place with this one. Looks like we have a "chance" of a major winter storm. I don't mind 4 inches but not 1-2 feet!!  I guess we will see what the new Euro Model will tells us by this evening! Hope Friday commute wont be bad!

He wrote this morning....
Ok so here is the Issue this morning with Friday into Saturday. ECMWF and RPM models have snowfall totals between 10 and 22 inches. The reason these totals so high, NO changeover to rain. The NAM and GFS models from what I am looking at, starts as snow then to rain and back to snow. These models showing under 3 inches of snow. The next 24 hours I will be tracking the trend of where the rain/snow line will be and which solution is correct. The 12z models will be in around 11am.
You can NOT forecast the exact rain/snow line 48 hours ahead of the event. For Long Island a 15 mile difference in the rain/snow line is the difference between 15 inches of snow or 1.25 inches of rain.

I would love a saturday snowed in with my boys, my son was an infant last year so this would be his first snowman, snowangel etc 
but I could pass on dealing with it on the friday commute

Mike Woods from Fox 5 said it could be 2-4" (for parts of LI) and then he said another model showed 12" + for the area. So who knows.

I'm thinking it will be on the lower end because DH doesn't have to work lol! Usually it only snows a lot while he's working and I have to figure out a way to shovel out with the two kids.

yes please even though i have a couple of visitors lined up for saturday!
I would love to have DD play in REAL snow, not the bogus half inch we had last weekend. Every other snow since she's been born she has been sick! (execept the October 2011 freak storm but she was like 10 days old).
I would also love to have a nice roaring fire in the fireplace since DH is off saturday!
