SO- accent wall
what is the purpose of the accent wall..
i relaly like them.. but i have smaller rooms.. is it supposed to make it look bigger? woudl it be ok to do in my house ?

Personally I just love the look of it, breaks up the room a bit. I don't know if it makes the room look bigger or smaller, but I guess it gives you the option of color, without the overkill.

i agree. i also think it helps add color when you've got a very open floor plan that doesn't allow you to paint all 4 walls (this is the situation I have.)
ETA: I never would've thought to do accent walls but now that i've replaced the ugly colors that the seller had used, i'm very happy.

this is our accent wall color over our fireplace. (not the furniture)
