So BFing and milk free for almost 2 weeks now..but

no change in his diaper situation...still green and mucusy...till yesterday, I ran out of soy milk, so I hadn't had any milk in 2 days, this morning his diapers are back to normal..

tmi-mustardy with curds..oh happy day..so I guess the soy has the protein allergy as well. So I am going to get rice milk today and try that this week.

Its a big transisition, but honestly I can't complain. I am eating crazy healthy...veggies, salads, fruits, lean meats..It was frustrating not to be getting diaper results for the last 2 weeks, but this morning the sun was shining down on me when I changed him.

So, when I call my parents later on today with the update, they are going to be crazy concerned with the bone development of the baby with me only drinking rice milk..I am taking vitamins and he goes on vitamins this month, should I be worried about what he is lacking?

When Andy was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy we were told it soy would affect him too. The doctor said pretty much any animal milk, so hopefully the rice milk works for you!

I am going through something similar.

No don't worry - your milk had adequate calcium. Your body will take it from you though so make sure you're taking a supplement! You can always try again with milk in a month...

keep up the good work!

Same with Hannah the doctor told us not to use soy for her milk protein allergy.

Good luck with the rice milkChat Icon

I'm going through the same thing. I haven't been doing it as long though. His doctor said it could take 2-3 weeks though. He's still moody, has a rash, and weird poops. Hopefully it gets better. I think the calcium in BM is adequate. I take supplements now that I'm dairy free. Chat Icon

The baby is not lacking anything from your milk but you need to worry about calcium for yourself since you're off dairy. Make sure you are taking a calcium supplement in addition to a multi or prenatal vitamin.

Re: So BFing and milk free for almost 2 weeks now..but

which soy milk are you drinking, not all soys are 'clean" menaing they are procssed on machones that could be contaminated, soy dream is clean but silk is not. There are also many hidden forms of milk protein, like anything with caramel coloring, anything with tartar, do you know all the "hidden" sources?
