So, Cailen will be 9 mts old on Xmas...
When people ask me - "what should I get him?" what do you ladies suggest?
I can't get anything that will take up a lot of room, since we have so little walking space as it is - but I really want to ask for toys that are educational and will really be something eh enjoys playing with - not dust collectors...

I think most of my family is getting DS clothes for Christmas. My mom is getting him a Britax.

Have you looked at discoverytoys.com?
They have some good educational toys.
Let me know if you are interested. I know one woman who sells them who is donating all of her commission to a children's charity. You'd have to order through her and not the general website.

TJ will be 9 months too and my mom already gave me a list of ridiculous things she wants to get him. I actually asked her to just get him some clothes if he needs, maybe $$ towards saf-t-swim which I want to do next spring and a few toys (maybe a one or two). I already have a bunch of older toys people got me and he will still be too young. I figure when he turns 1 in April he'll be a little older and can play with toys and i'll ask for outdoor toys for the summer.
ETA: I LOVE educational toys too. Right now he has the fisher price shape sorter (which he just chews on), the ring stacker that plays music, books, a toy that make animal sounds. Something I saw on a commercial yesterday was the see and learn kitchen which looked really cute.

My nephew will be 8 months around Christmas and DH and I decided to start his library and buy books. My brother and SIL said he has way too many clothes, and being a huge bookworm myself, I wanted him to have things like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, The Monster at the End of this Book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, etc. These are things he will have for awhile, and maybe when he's older he'll pick it up and remember how much he loved a particular book!

Book, Melissa and Doug puzzles, toys that are for his age (so easy to shop on line for that), clothes.....

I know - I got inspired by lokoing thru a toy catalog recently - I even circled stuff!!!
I love books - I guess I'll ask for GC for book stores - also money towards music together, which I wanted to start taking him to next session - keep the ideas coming, ladies!!!

I am asking for zoo memberships, kid museum memberships...which I think people will get us, mainly since my mother is so anti-China made toys at this point.

Everyone has been asking me the same question. I decided to scour Amazon and make DS a wishlist so we get stuff we like, approve of and no repeats- so far the Family is thrilled- less shopping, easy choices and we all get what we want!

I am definitely going to ask for books for Taylor.
She certainly doesn't need any more stuffed animals.
I would also like to ask for a GC for Kiddie Kandids or somewhere, professional portraits can be so pricey.

DS was 8.5 months last year and I got him the FP learning house wall. He still plays with it now at 18 months. It has a music mode and an ABC mode. So when things open and close it either plays music or it makes a door creak sound and then says Open and if you do it in the other direction it says Close. He crawls through it. It is slim too with a handle. So the widest part is the base which is maybe 6 inches and about 2.5 feet long.
I also ask for clothes because it gets expensive.
