Relax...even though I'm not doing it this year, I have done it in the past and it's a great run. Nice, flat course so you'll be fine!! And of course, there is the payoff at the end!

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

I ran the half last year. its a nice course. But by the time I finsihed there were barely any snacks left! This year I am going to do the 5k or 10k. Going to make a day of decision. Good luck to you all!

ETA: I'm out - I was away in florida and they closed online registration - and cancelled day of. I had no way of going there to register since I was out of state. Oh well! Good luck everyone!

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

I'm terrified!!
I only just started running outside recently and it's such an adjustment from the treadmill I was used to. I have a feeling I'm going to be walking a lot. But I know I can finish it, at least....and that I can run for at least part of it!

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

My Dad had surgery to remove a tumor in his colon this week so I'm off my normal jogging and eating guidelines. I'll get back out there tomorrow, and try to do at least three jogs before Saturday.

I can guarantee you I will be walking as well. My friend is coming and has a knee with an old tear in it, so I'm going to be walk/jogging with her. Don't be terrified! It's supposed to be fun. Chat Icon

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

By the way, I read on their FB page that the registration for the 5k is CLOSED! I had a feeling that would happen, I'm glad we registered early.

I'm so not ready, but I don't care. I've been doing my one long run and one other since school started. I just hope I don't totally die.

See everyone there!

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

I had a great 3.1 run this morning, except that my Nike app closed down at 1.19 (WTF?) so I don't know my time...my pace was about 10:35 which I am very happy with though...

I'm doing the 5k

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

Had a jog this morning after almost a week and was fine, feeling good.

I was going to swing by Bay Shore this week to pick up our packets but they're not convenient hours. We're going to have to do it on race day which will probably be a madhouse. Chat Icon

I have to figure out food the day of as well. I don't think I want to eat prior but I'll definitely need coffee to wake me up.

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

i'm doing the 10k and i'm not in the shape i want to be but i've kinda taken the "oh well" approach lately to running. I've done a bunch of 10ks recently so i know i can do it but i would just be able to do it faster than i probably will! is anyone planning an LIF meet up before or after the race?!

You can also p/u the packet Wednesday at Runner's Edge in Farmingdale until 8pm

As far as food goes, Iusually have coffee and a banana- and then sip some sports drink.

I saw that too but I have a standing dinner date with my parents in Sayville every wednesday right after work.

Bananas make me burp. Chat Icon But you're right about fruit, I could do an apple instead and some coffee.

This is exactly me. I am always on a treadmill and just started to run outside and WOW, what a difference. Wish I had transitioned sooner! I know I will have to stop and walk a few times, but I'm fine with that. This is my first 5K so I'm not worried about my time or speed or anything like that. I just want to finish and feel proud of myself! Good luck to everyone!!

I always run alone and always have music on. There's a great mix on Songza called "Drop A Beat Workout" that I listen to. Or on Pandora I have a Pitbull radio station.

For this race, I won't because my friend will be with me.

Re: So, Entenmannn's girls

Anyone who was thinking about registering that morning- I just got this email...

As you are aware we had a huge response this year and had to close down online registration. Fortunately we are able to open up some additional spots (very limited). Please spread the word to your friends and family members who were not able to register online. There will be NO Race Morning Registration. Anyone interested in securing a spot must come down to a packet pick-up location Wednesday through Friday and register. Again Spots are very limited and will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
