so hard to know if she is faking it or what... need cardiologist recommendations
DD -3.5 YO- has mentioned few times today that her "heart is beating so fast" and that her heart "hurts" . She mentioned this few weeks ago, our ped listened to her heart , checked her oxygen level (she had a bad cold) and said everything is fine. Now today she is saying it again. She seems fine, playing, singing, dancing, running around -NON stop, active like always... She does still have a little congestion left over from a cold. I have a heart issue myself (from pregnancy) so I'm worried, I don't know if she has heard me complain about my issue -I have heart palpitations and chest pain sometimes and sometimes I tell my DH- and so she is just saying it to get attention OR it's really bothering her. OH and I was trying to get her to nap and she didn't want to , so it's possible that she was using this.... Anyway I'd like to be on a safe side and have her checked by a cardiologist so we don't miss anything in case there IS something going on. So can anyone recommend a pediatric cardiologist in Queens? Thanks

I don't have a doc recommendation, but I just wanted to say that I think you are doing the right thing. IMO, for a kid to complain that their heart hurts, definitely warrants a visit.
Hope everything turns out okay!

My brother complained of this, but as a teenager. His heart would randomly start beating really fast. He had a 'short' in his heart.
Definitely get her to a doctor, even if it is for peace of mind. (He saw someone at St. Francis)

I think your best bet is to call your pediatrician and have them recommend somebody they've worked with in the past.

DS saw Dr. Tanjan in Queens after doctors thought he had heart murmur (turned out to be nothing). She was pretty thorough and I liked her staff. She's across the street from New York Hospital.

I dont have a recommendation in Queens....
But any of the Pediatric Cardiologists out of St Francis would be wonderful. And not far from Queens at all.
I believe Dr Reitman has retired but Dr Lubchuck is fantastic. We've been patients of theirs for over 17 years...

Re: so hard to know if she is faking it or what... need cardiologist recommendations
Just spoke to our ped , he gave me a name of someone who is supposed to be "one of the best" . He also said that I should take DD to an ER if she complains like this again. He doesn't think there is anything to worry about since he has been DD's ped since she was born and knows her very well , plus we just went to see him couple of weeks ago, but he also thinks it's a good idea to get her checked just in case.... I'm going to call and make an appointment with the cardiologist anyway. Will keep you posted . Thank you again everyone :)

I'm glad you talked to your Pediatrician. I think it makes sense to get this checked out. When she complains, have you ever checked her pulse or felt her chest? (or when she is not complaining, so you can feel what "normal" is like) I think you should see a doctor, but if you feel her chest or pulse you may have more information for the doctor.
My brother had something like that when he was a teenager. The doctor put him on a monitor that he wore for a few days. It showed he had skipped beats when he drank caffeine, which stopped when he avoided caffeine.

She could be faking but I would definitely get it checked out. When DD had Kawasaki disease we used Dr. Patrick Flynn of Cornell. He is great. Here is his info

Re: so hard to know if she is faking it or what... need cardiologist recommendations
Saw a cardiologist DD is perfectly fine!
We did have a bit of a problem with one of the assistants, she was trying to do an echo cardiogram and obviously DD didn't want to , so she was screaming and crying, asking for dada, didn't want to do it . The woman gave her some stickers and the TV was on, but no help.... Anyway, after trying for about 5 min the woman lost her temper , she raised her voice saying sorry, I can't do this, can't do this! then she grabbed the stickers from DD's hand and told her she didn't do well so she didn't " deserve the stickers " and threw them in the trash, then she told DD that her dada "isn't coming bc she cried and wasn't a good girl" and that she needs to behave if she wants to watch TV , but in a very "I can't deal with you" tone of voice. she was extremely annoyed . she said to me "take her and come back when she is calmer, I'll keep her info here, I guess it's not going to happen today " ... This whole thing made DD cry hysterically and she started shaking bc she got so upset. So I lost it, I told the woman she shouldn't be working with kids if she can't deal with them and has no right to talk to my DD that way, I just couldn't believe how she behaved Then another nurse came in, she was very sweet, she got DD to calm down, distract her and did cardiogram without a problem, she was so good that DD even let her do the EKG.

I'm glad your DD is okay, and what a WITCH that lady was!! I would write a formal complaint letter to the office. It sounds like she should NOT be working with kids!!!
