So how bad will flying with a one year old during the holidays be?
Be honest......I've never flown during the holidays and she wasn't mobile the last time we flew. I have a feeling I'm in for it.

How long is the plane ride?
I flew with DS when he was a year old to Italy and it was def. more challenging then the other flights we've taken when he was younger - but it wasn't terrible.
Make sure to pack a lot of snacks, books, and toys to occupy her. Also - if you have a portable DVD player that could very well be your lifesaver!

I think that you just have to be prepared for things to take a little longer and for the plane to be full so if you didn't buy DD a seat you'll likely have someone else in your row.

We've flown a bunch with DD, including to Spain on a redeye and back on connecting flights. The holidays will just be a little more backed up, but considering a lot of people aren't shelling out $$ to travel right now, I doubt it will be terrible.
I agree with the above poster though. Definately buy a seat for your child if the flight is over 3 hours.

We flew with DD when she was 14 months. I made a HUGE mistake by not getting her her own seat. I wish I had so I could've just belted her in to her car seat which she was already used to.
I highly agree with the portable DVD player, also try and let DC run around the airport before you get on the plane so maybe they will fall asleep.
Good luck!!!

Thanks for all your suggestions! I was afraid you would say to buy a seat for her. The flight is about an hour and a half. She isn't the type to fall asleep just anywhere either.

I said buy a seat in my post above, but only for a flight over 3 hours. We've flown to FL a few times without buying a seat no problem. 1 1/2 hours won't be bad at all. Try 9 hours when a 1 year old has a cold and cough
I wouldn't pre-board though. Let her run around until the last minute.
