Ok, I haven't been on all day & this is what happens behind my back?!!!!

Only kidding.
Well. as someone who is leaving this fri to Croatia for the entire summer, with 2 kiddies in tow..I feel somewhat like an expert.
I totally agree with Nataly ( Bebalina) on everything except for one thing..I am a firm believer in baby gets their own seat. I have always bought my son his own seat ( he is now 11 and this is his 10th trip) to me its worth the $$. Now that we have DD, she is 18 months- she got her own seat as well. I asked for the 3 seats to the side and when they fall asleep..and God willing they will, since its a night flight there, sit in the middle and have them lean on you.
Don't forget to call in advance for a kiddie meal. They get a real kick out of it.

In Bebalina's defense, her Luka is the most quiet & paitient little baby that can sit on her lap for hours, whereas my Iva would leave me black and blue.

I hope you used one of the Croatian travel agencies and didn't get ripped off by buying the tickets on-line. Like I said, my son is 11 and I didn't pay full fare for him..that starts next yr.
I wouldn't bring the car seats on board, the Britex's will be sooo gigantic in those little airplane seats. Also consider if you don't purchase tickets for your children..they will NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO ANY LUGGAGE. Can you honestly pack everything into 2 luggages for yourself & 2 DC? That doesn't include the carseats..you'd pay extra to get that on board. The Croatia Air portion is peanuts in terms of $$ so don't drop that seat for the kids.

Every year I take this long azz trip & I see the few parents that decide to save a buck only for them to be completly miserable and looking for a rope to hang themselves by. Traveling with one is still doable..but 2 changes the game.
As for products, our little country by the sea has come a long way. They have EVERYTHING..all shampoo's,diapers, wipes, yogurts, you name it. The only thing I am bringing is amoxicillon in powder form and ear drops, just in case. Of course the standard motrin and tylenol.

So relax and have a great time..I know I can't wait!
Just to throw in some free advertising.. GO CROATIA GO!!!!!.. we are soooo kicking azz in the Euro Cup. Played great today! Can't wait for Fri vs. Turkey... does anyone even watch soccer or am I the only one with little Luka? Chat Icon

No, thats not true. If you pay for your child to fly (not their own seat etc) they are entitled to baggage, only they have a smaller baggage entitlement.

I suppose it depends on the airline, but I have flown internationally with BA and Delta and they all have the same baggage rules.

When we go to Ireland we always take our carseats. You never know what kind of carseats your going to get when you rent a car. We never had a problem with them not fitting in the cars.

I am thinking of brinning DD in the infant carrier and DS in her carseat since it is smaller. If I can't fit it then I guess I will borrow one.

Thanks

I took DD to Israel without her own seat (11 hour flight) right before she turned 2. The way there was fine. She slept on me and was OK. The flight left at 10 and I kept her awake until we left. Mid-way through the flight we found an open seat and DH sat there and Jordana slept next to me. She didn't have her own carseat.

The way back was a nightmare- mainly because she fell asleep and woke up before our 1am flight. Chat Icon

Can you buy diapers in Croatia? That's what we did (in Israel).

The flight did have basinetts, but DD was too big. Call the airline and ask about it.

I guess it depends on the child. Ellie was absolutely miserable to travel with on a plane on our laps at one year old but this year with the car seat she was an angel. So I'd opt for the seat if possible.
