So I went for my Ultrascreen (and a QUESTION for you)

We got to see the baby moving all around again and another pic!Chat Icon

The sono tech had a hard time getting the right angle. So she was pushing very firmly all over (to get the baby to turn and to get good detail), apologizing to me in case it hurt. It didn't start hurting until she kept pushing hard on one area for an extended period of time. And pushing and pushing and pushing. Last night and this morning I'm REALLY sore in that area (oh and I have a big stretch mark now, too). It almost feels like I'm going to get a bruise over there. Makes me worry about the baby.Chat Icon

Please share what your experience was like getting an Ultrascreen? I'd like some peace of mind if that's how it usually is, or else I'll call the Dr's office to make sure. I'm sure the tech was just doing her job, but with me in this pain I can't help but worry...

I remember them excessively poking and probing.
I am sure the baby is fine. I remember it taking a long time too. I get a vaginal sono also.

dont worry!

Re: So I went for my Ultrascreen (and a QUESTION for you)

I don't really know the difference between an ultrascreen and an ultrasound but...
This happened to me once during an ultrasound when they were trying to determine sex. My baby was breech so he was trying to view it at a different angle and pushed REALLY hard under my rib cage. It was definitely uncomfortable and I wouldn't even think about pushing that hard on my own belly. It was sore for a bit, but it was okay.

my tech was really hard on my belly as well, it really did not bother me after but i just thought it was normal so they can get the baby to turn over.... i would call if you get a bruise but i am sure the baby is fine...

The sono tech did the same thing to me. THe baby was not cooperating and she was banging on my belly so hard. I have bad morning sickness too, I thought I was going to have to run to the bathroom, she was making me so sick.

But... to answer your question, totally normal.

Thanks, girls Chat Icon I never thought I'd be such a worry wart!

I guess if the pain continues and I get a bruise then I'll call them.

I get one everytime and most of the time the baby is sleeping and it hurts a lot sometimes. Especially now that I am farther along.

Re: So I went for my Ultrascreen (and a QUESTION for you)

The same thing happened to me at my Ultrascreen. The woman kept pushing on my stomach to try and get the baby to move and it hurt alot, even the next day I felt like I was bruised. Definietely not pleasant.

Re: So I went for my Ultrascreen (and a QUESTION for you)

Isn't it great to see the baby?

I didn't have that at my ultrascreen, but at my Level 2 the tech had some trouble getting the right angle. The baby was being very stubborn. I just had to turn on my side, so I had no bruising. If it will make you feel better you should call the doctor just for peace of mind. I'm sure everything's fine.

This happened to me too. She would poke all around. One area it did hurt, but, I was ok after.
