So I work in a cust service related field...
People have ZERO communication skills. I mean ZERO.
I'm not talking kids - I'm talking adults - 25 yrs and up.
Lots of ums, lots of inappropriate language - I had one customer call me and tell me that her "accounting department is retarded". Who says that?!?!?!?!?!?!
I've had high-level executives call me with food in their mouths. Disgusting.
What the hell happened?

We are representatives of the government when dealing with the public and if you heard some of the language used, it would make you sick. Incorrect usage of was/were, ain't, "you be". It is truly sad.

I was reminded of this last night while on the phone with someone at XM radio about my account. He sounded young so I hope it's just inexperience and that he gets better.
I used to hear things people said while on the phone with our clients that made me cringe. If I didn't listen to music all day now, I still would. Some people don't care to better themselves and are just muddling along to make a paycheck.

I work on escalated calls for my team- if they cant handle it for some reason I get- I usually get people that are screaming, cursing, threatening my staff's jobs and other ridiculous stuff- and its usually over the dumbest complaints ever.
And you are right, half the time, I can't even comprehend what they are trying to complain about because their grammar is so awful.

My MIL works for the courts in Jamaica and I couldn't believe the way people in her office talk. It's pretty sad.
