So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
My grandparents were watching Landon and he fell off their deck steps. Landed and slid in his face. He has a big bump on his head, then a stripe straight down the center of his face (like a rugburn) with some bruising and bloddy scratches on his nose. Any advice to prevent him touching it (he keeps rubbing his nose) and to prevent scarring?

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
Oh no. So sorry to hear Landon got hurt. DS did a face plant last summer and I thought it was minor, just so you are not as surprised/upset as I was, the cuts looked worse on day 2. Kids are resilient and I am sure DS will get better soon. I would put neosporin and one of those butterfly band aids on so he does not pick at the wound.

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
DS did this around Landon's age except he did while running on our walk way.
He really didn't touch it. I cleaned it and used Neosporine on it. Alomost 2 years later and no scars. Hope he feels better

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
NEOSPORIN for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad he's ok, don't worry the neo will definitely help heal him FAST, I've been amazed at what it can do to prevent scars!!! I fell down a whole FLIGHT of concrete steps at 5yrs old and didn't have any lasting scars, hopefully it's the same for Landon. How about cotton gloves or socks on his hands at night, so he doesn't pic at it in his sleep if it gets itchy???

Thanks for the warning. I had a feeling this would happen because the bruising got so much worse as the night went on. This incident happened at around 11 am and didn't bruise til 4-5pm

I asked our ped. at the last appt about scratches/scrapes, and he said to use Neosporin without a bandaid, or put the bandaid on right before bed. Hope Landon feels better soon!

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
DS fell face first on concrete last summer. He chipped a tooth and had a really nasty fat lip/cut on his upper lip. I was devastated but he healed completely and other than the chipped tooth there is NO evidence of the fall.

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
I got a burn on my face and my dermatologist said that she would not suggest Neosporin for cuts or burns on the face. She suggested that after the wound is cleaned to apply aquaphor regularly and not to use a bandaid. She told me the same would apply if DD got a cut on her face. I would check with a dermatologist.

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
Oh no! Ava did almost the same exact thing a few weeks ago when my grandparents were watching her. Only she knocked her front teeth loose. We just left her alone, she picked at it and rubbed it, but it didn't scar. Hope he's feeling better soon, poor baby!

Re: So Landon feel down steps face-first onto concrete today
Poor Landon. Michael had an incident like that on Sunday. He was running around outside and ran head first into the steel gate. The good thing was that he got a bruise and a cut on his forehead. I have been putting neosporin and a bandaid on it.
