So my friend told me a story today and I just wanted to share
A good friend's DH is FDNY. She called me in tears earlier today and told me that she had just heard from her DH who is at work today in Brooklyn.
It seems that a young boy from Wisconsin was in to visit his fire house, this little boy (10 yrs old I believe) was sent by the Make A Wish Foundation.
His last wish was not to go to Disney World (not that there is anything wrong w/that) or any of the hundreds of other wonderful opportunities Make A Wish provides for these children with terminal illnesses, his last wish was to have a hot dog & mountain dew w/firemen from FDNY.
I am so moved and beyond floored by this. This poor little boy just wanted to meet these amazing men who wake up every day and risk their lives to keep our city safe.
I don't know if I am expressing this correctly it just absolutely warms my heart. I too was in tears and just feel so sad for him and his family but at the same time so proud for our FDNY hero's to make such an impact.

thats so sweet!!
I also love the make a wish foundation. My friends nephew has a really really bad form of cancer and his wish was also granted. He chose disney to ride the parade with mickey.. he's also been to disney a million times.
they also let them go to a baseball game and throw the first ball and sit with the team in the dugout and all.
they really do amazing things for them.
the FDNY story is sweet. I'm sure the firefighters were touched by it too...

I used to volunteer for MAW and have heard amazing stories. My mom is also a wish granter. But this one...
