So my mom wants to take a 1 month vacation
and she is my primary caregiver.
I can't say no. She and her siblings have been planning a trip together for years and this is the only year that all 6 of them can all go.
I'm so stressed out about who is going to watch DS.
I can take 2 weeks but that only leaves me 1 more week for the rest of year for everything (sick days, personal, etc.)
And DH can one week.
But that still leaves one more week where we have to find daycare.
And it means that DH and I won't be able to take a desparately needed vacation with just the 2 of us like we had planned.
Uuuuuggghh. Just venting.

Rather than burn all of your vacation, woud you consider finding an inhome daycare for a month?
Maybe someone on here does it out of their home?

I agree with the above poster, since no matter what u need to find someone to watch your child, why not have them do more than a week, so you dont have to use a lot of vacation time.

I agree - there are so many mommies on here that would be willing to help and looking to make a little extra money on a temporary basis - if you're comfortable with it.

Today if my mom told me that I would say GO NOW...but shes pissing me off today. Vent over As for your situation...I would agree with the above posters. In home daycare or even a facility will take DC for a week.

I agree - I wouldn't use up all of my days.
God forbid you need them for something

I would be totally open to that, but DH would never allow it.
He won't even let us get a cleaning lady bc he does not like strangers in the house.
I think he would be more open to daycare if it was somehow connected to a school/church, some kind of licensed public place rather than in-home.
Is that even an option? I know with inhome care, there would be more flexibility.

Re: So my mom wants to take a 1 month vacation
It possible a licensed daycare would take him on a temporary basis. It's also possible that you're going to like it & then want to do it full time once those cute little crafts start coming in.
Also while DH isn't crazy about the idea, I think leaving both of you with such little vacation isn't fair to either of you.
If you took a week & he took a week - and spread it out every other day depending on how holidays fall throughout the month, you'd need someone for 2 weeks max. Maybe he'd be ok with in-home daycare Tues & Thurs?

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into licensed daycare and hope that they will be more willing to take him if I put him in for the full month.
If that fails, I will try to convince DH of home daycare.
DS is only 9 months, so no cute crafts for a while! but we do plan on putting him in daycare when he is 2 yrs old.
I guess this will jumpstart my search.
