So Ready to Lose it.....

I teach 9th grade Special Ed., and getting so ANNOYED with the kids IMMATURITY.
Im trying to review for their Earth Science and Math Regents and all they want to do is act like "animals".
I told them my 8 month old boys act better than they do.
I really feel bad saying this, but Im at the point hwere I dont care anymore, and I dont have any student that I will miss this year, and that is very uncommon for me to say.
I just cant wait to stay home this summer with my boys.

I have felt the same way for the last couple of yearsChat Icon Chat Icon and I teach the "Advanced Placement" classes. I put that in quotes because anyone with a persistent enough parent can get inChat Icon a work ethic is not requiredChat Icon Chat Icon

I used to love, love, love my job but after 13 years and seeing the kids change so much, and not for the better, I can't say I'm missing it at all since I've been out since January. Add to that three preps every year, often a 6th class (and not at 20% additional pay) and no contract, well... I laughed when I saw the wall of review books in the bookstore this year... I just thought, "UGH, thank God I get a break this yearChat Icon "

Honestly, at this point what is keeping me are the pension, time off and our health care benefits now that I have a family. Hopefully, this break will refresh me and I'll be "into it again" when it's time to return.

I teach HS special ed and I have mostly 10th graders this year. They are not a bad group. But our 9th graders are a horrible group. I am not looking forward to having them next year!!! I feel your pain!!
