So sick of hair caught in my vacuum
I can't be the only one this happens to, right?
Every time I vacuum my apartment (only 3 rooms are carpeted!), I have to turn the vacuum upside down and yank out all the hair that has wound its way around the belt. If I don't do this, the vacuum's belt will get stopped up and stop working after 2 or 3 weeks. This has happened with every vacuum I've ever had. It's driving me nuts! It takes me 5 minutes to vacuum, and then another 5-10 to try to unwind all that hair, which is now covered in dirt and dust. Eew.
Is there a solution? Other than shaving my head?

Maybe vacuum more often? What kind of vacuum do you have?

Mine does that too. I've had better luck with canister vacs instead of uprights, but I find them otherwise more annoying.

Mine does that too... I have an Electrolux canister vac. It is disgusting. I get so annoyed b/c my cleaning lady never cleans it out so it builds up...

Re: So sick of hair caught in my vacuum
Thanks for the replies. I have a Dyson. I guess I thought that if I spent more money on a vacuum, the problem would go away. Not so!
Anyone know an inventor? I think we have a million-dollar idea on our hands...

Re: So sick of hair caught in my vacuum
I have a dyson and have the same situation. I always kid around w/ DH that i have to give the vacuum a haircut before i use it
It is annoying, but i dont really see a solution for it-i shed, there's just no way to avoid that. But instead of trying to rip the hair out, i just cut the hair straight across and then pull out the clumps- SO much easier! Takes me 2 minutes to clean it out.

Re: So sick of hair caught in my vacuum
Dyson, cut and pull method here too.
I know this is not a great suggestion but since I cut 13 inches off my hair, I don't have to pull the hair out half as much.

Re: So sick of hair caught in my vacuum
I have a Dyson too, same problem, but I think no matter what kind of vacuum you have, the hair will still get caught around the beater bar. You just have to cut it off the roller every so often.
