So the swine flu visited our home
First was my 4 year old who had a mild case and the Dr said motrin, chicken soup and plenty of fluids. As he was getting over it, I got it, my Dr prescribed just a z-pack, tylenol and robitussin DM. Next the little guy got it, he was put on tamiflu and motrin. Now the biggest baby of them all got it and the world has to stop. I told him to go home to his mommy because I had 0 help from him when I was sick with this at 5 months pregnant.
Honestly, it really wasnt as bad as the media makes it out to be, even the Dr's (the OB, the MD and the pediatrician) said that the hype is out of control

Re: So the swine flu visited our home
DS had it last week, and I think I had it myself but never went to the dr because I was so busy trying to take care of DS!
There was 2 scary days of high fevers, but other than that, it really wasn't much worse than a bad cold.
glad everyone is feeling better and you should make your DH go to his mom's!!!!

Re: So the swine flu visited our home
I'm glad everyone is okay!
DH had a minor cold with a "fever" of 99.0. He wouldn't move from the couch all day. His symptoms lasted maybe 36 hours. A few days later I came down with what I suspect was Swine Flu (I didn't go to the doctor). No, it wasn't pleasant, but certainly not as bad as it was made out to be. I had a fever & every other cold & flu symptom. I was lucky that I got one day that my mom took the kids so I could rest. I had to laugh at DH about how much of a baby he was over his "fever" of 99 while I was running 103+ & not whining nearly as much & I was sick for 6 days!

Re: So the swine flu visited our home
Sorry to hear about the illnesses.
I'm a little curious as to why they would give you a z-pack vs tamiflu considering flu is a virus which does not respond to antibiotics. Hope you are feeling better though.

I would say to prevent a secondary bacteria infection, such as pneumonia.
DHs are the biggest babies of them all.

My DH just went to the Drs today cause he was sick and they gave him Tamiflu AND the Z-Pack... Isn't that weird??? My house is an infected cave... DD has chest congestion and both ears infected, I have Laryngitis and DH has the flu. DD is 1 and my DH is whining more than her.. BABIES BABIES BABIES!!

My SIL had swine flu and then got strep throat just as the flu was getting better- apparently the secondary infections can be serious, so that's probably why they gave the zpack. She was sick for quite a while.
