So upset, any advice?
I am so upset right now. I recently moved to CT and am having such a hard time getting a new job. I keep coming to be one of the last two-three final candidates and it keeps going to someone else. I don't know what to do anymore, or what I am doing wrong. I am just so discouraged and upset.
This past one I thought I totally nailed - it was for a new Marketing/Community Relations Director position at a financial company. I have the experience and everything they were looking for on paper. I brought with me a portfolio of my work, and put together an entire proposal of ideas that I know was really strong. What more can I do????
I am at the point where I feel like I will never find a new job.
I am not totally jobless - I do consulting work for my former company in NYC because they don't want to be without me EVER (their words) so why can't I convince any other companies of the value I can bring?
If anyone has any thoughts or advice, please please please share.

I'm so sorry Katie!!!
The right job is out there waiting for you, remember everything happens for a reason!! You'll find the right place soon enough, just keep plugging away. At least the interviews are giving you a learning experience, try to be positive!!

everything happens for a reason, and i'm sorry you're going thru this...I know it stinks.
my suggestion is to keep on top of the companies you like (so long as you know they haven't already hired.) Send emails once every 10 days or so and just reiterate how much you'd enjoy working there. One thing I learned when I was applying for the job I'm at now is that you need to flat out say 'I want this job.' I thought I had made that very clear but i guess not. The HR woman - who I totally had in my corner, luckily - encouraged me to do this.

I am going though the same thing and have been out of work for 4 months. Don't worry - you will get a job, the perfect job and before you know it you will be back at work wishing you were still home. Just be patient.
Good luck.
