I don't know your situation that much, but I think you need to find a new daycare provider, ASAP!

I was thinking the same thing. as a teacher and a mother, I am appalled.

Ditto and ditto. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this insensitivity and unprofessionalism--especially when it deals with your daughter!!!!!!!!!

I'd be out of there.

I really don't even know what to say. That is unacceptable and I would try to report them to someone. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. She is precious, all babies are and no one should say such awful things about an innocent baby.

I totally agree- if there is someone you can report her to, you should. Calling someone's little child a monster is deplorable. Chat Icon And wanting to medicate her to quiet her down?!?

I agree this is not a good situation! Your daughter's self esteem is at stake...if the teachers feel this way about her, they will treat her differently than the other children! I'd seriously consider another means of care as soon as possible! I am so sorry that you are going through this!

Do you mind if I ask where you send her? I am going back to work in Sept. and don't want to find my children in that facility!

Best of luck to you!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: so upset with daycare (VENT)

I cannot even believe what I just read. That is absolutely awful. I really think you need to pull her from there and look for a new daycare. You want your child to be in a loving, caring environment. Anyone who works with children should be prepared to handle all sorts of babies and their personalities. I don't care if Hannah was the most difficult child in the world, she deserves to be in a situation where she is cared about and handled with respect and patience. Chat Icon

Re: so upset with daycare (VENT)

So sorry to hear this. That's just shocking that people who are licensed and train to deal with children would respond that way to an infant who has eating issues. Appalling. Now I'm scared b/c our sitter is quitting and I'm going to have to put her in a daycare. Would you mind sharing where this is?

Working in this field I can tell you that this is completly unacceptable- find yourself a new daycare ASAP!!!

Also- is this a center? Im almost certain that they can not give tylenol without your written consent (I think a Dr might even need to sign off on it)

I rarely give DS meds for teething (I mean it has to be real bad) it would be a cold day in hell, someone else was making that call for me!Chat Icon

As a teacher and a mom, I find what they said to be completely unacceptable. No one should evr be allowed to speak about a child in that manner. It makes me wonder how they speak to her when you're not around. Please get her out of there as soon as possible.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: so upset with daycare (VENT)

I think you should take your child out of the daycare ASAP. If the daycare is saying all of those nasty things about your daughter she is probably not getting the best treatment which in turn is making her more upset. What a turnoff it is to hear the name calling from adults..they should be helping the situation not adding to your stress of being a working mom.

I have taught children as old as 12 years and I would never call any of them a monster. I can't imagine how anyone could call an infant a monster. I would find someone new as soon as possible. I know how hard it is to find good daycare esoecially for an infant

I agree 100%! In centers Dr.s Usually MUST give the parents notes to bring in, in order for us (the teachers) to give medicine!
I would find another day care ASAP! That's just crazy!

Re: so upset with daycare (VENT)

I keep thinking abou this post bc it really bothers me so much. I wonder why people go into a field that they have no business in. As a high school teacher I couldnt imagine saying those things to a parent about their child. If I were you not only would I find a new daycare I would find the highest person on the daycare's ladder to complain to. I would not be quiet about this! Good Luck.

Re: so upset with daycare (VENT)

I'm appalled and disgusted that your daycare place had the nerve to say that to you. I would call the director up first thing Monday (if he/she is not in the place when you go there) and I would tear them a new one. How dare someone say that about your child?? She a baby, 11 months, if that, what do these people expect? A child that's going to play quietly all day, take 3 hour naps and eat all their food and drink all their bottles and never cry once? I hope the director reprimands them! I would definitely start looking for a new daycare as well.

I'm sorry they said those things, I am sure your DD is nothing like how they described her!

YOU know from working with kids that they can always pick up how people feel about them, and their behavior will sometimes be a reaction to how they are being treated... if they are telling you that she is a monster - how are they picking her up when she cries, reacting to her, etc... Are they PLAYING with her? Giving her the attention she needs right now? As the only baby there, are they putting her aside because she may be less mobile and demanding compared to the other kids? Is she doing the only thing she can to get some attention from them???

That precious little girl is NO monster - she is delightful, and at her age, her behavior is NOT her fault, it's theirs!!!

First of all - this is why I am not keen on small family daycares - they make up their own rules and ways to handle kids - at a DC center, there are hired professionals who serve as supervisors, so staff can work with them if they have any difficulties with a child, will be reprimanded if they ever tell a parent their child is a monster, and are given strategies and taught how to work with children if it is needed.... Or, they are fired and new staff is hired if they are incompetent.

Also, I would go ape-sh!t if someone asked me if they could medicate my child because he is being difficult.

Balls out ape-sh!t...

DC centers won't put diaper cream on a baby's a s s without written permission from a parent - let alone dispense OTC meds for crying... I would have a long talk with these people and then start looking around again.

I know its stressful and this is the last thing you want to do, plus its time consuming now that you are working again, but that is not OK...

FM me if you are interested in some DC centers I looked at that I liked!

Good luck!!!
