Re: SO vs. parent
In most ways, I did not marry a man like my dad. My dad is not handy at all. Hates working with his hands, could never fix a thing. He was a nypd police officer and was hardly ever home and considered that his only job.
Although my dh and dad have the same work ethic. They will both work till they are dead tired and will never turn over time away.
My dh is MUCH more laid back. He will do anything for anyone and has the patience of a saint. My dad on the other hand, has no patience at all and hates and refuses to do most things. My dh loves to bbq and do that "manly" stuff while my dad loves to sit in his recliner on his time off and watch sports. My dad is a sports addict and my dh could care less about any of them really.
I must admit though, they have the same temper. It takes my dh a little longer to get his temper up..my dad fights at the drop of a dime but they are both definately fighters when it comes down to it.

My dad will always be my dad and my DH will always be my DH.
They have similar qualities but are very different also.
I love them both though!

i feel the exact same way! i know theres certain traits that DH will never have that bother me in my Dad, but still... some things are a little too close for comfort sometimes

My father and DH are very much alike, their family comes first!
I think I'm NOTHING like his mother and that's not necessarily a bad thing

DH is very similar to my Dad! It's sometimes frightening! I wish they could have met. They would have gotten along really well. (Unlike my BILs )

Re: SO vs. parent
They are pretty different. They share some common interests and beliefs about a lot of things, but personality-wise they are different.
