So we go to pick up my son from daycare and(UPDATED)
He has a field trip on Friday. Guess where? They are going to see some group perform and play drums. The cost $8. Okay only problem I have is that the "filed trip' is in the class nextdoor. Yeah less than 10 feet. Now I would think that the cost of tuition would include an "assembly". Or atleast that is what they called it in school when I was coming up. I am thinking to myself well what the heck are they going to do with the kids who don't attend the "field trip". I guess since it Friday was going to be his last day I think I will stay home with him on Friday. We can have some Mommy and me time.
I really want to write the director and give her a little piece of mine.

That is absolutely ridciulous. There should be no reason why you would have to pay for something like that. After all, it is taking place at the daycare and you already pay tutition.
I remember when I sent my son to daycare at a private home in Westchester, the owner would always do fundraisers to raise money for new toys for the kids. I was so mad so I pulled him out. What was my $350 a week going towards??
Sorry you have to deal with this.

although my kids preschool had the zoo/pet den people come in with a few animals, and we had to pay per child also.
what type of show is it ?
yes, its really annoying. mommy time is WAY more precious!

That is annoying. When my dd was in daycare on long island her daycare place had a guy come in with his guitar every week and sing to the kids. It was included in the monthly fee.
I would definitely say something to the director. It can't hurt for her to hear your feelings on it.

I just left the daycare center where I asked the director what are the plans for the children who don't "attend" the field trip in the next classroom. She say " Oh well, I guess I will have to stay in the office with him, But I sure that he will want to be with his classmates". I said to her " why is my child being punished because we don't want him to go on this $8 fieldtrip? Her response was " Well talk to his father about and let me know on Thursday."
B tch. I don't need to talk to his father, MY HUSBAND!!!!I am his mother and that is the bottom line B tch!!!!!!!!

After your last update...I would totally send him to school..and basically force her to sit in a room with him to watch him. Punish her for being so idiotic.
Speak with his father...tell her you are the boss in the family, no need to speak to anyone.

Tell her you expect him to have just as much attention & interaction that you're paying for. He shouldn't be sitting in the office while she works.

There should be no messing...if she is the director, she should be giving the same care to your son that he would have had if there wasn't a field trip.
And if she doesn't comply, then you can report her.

I think this is one of those "cut your nose off to spite..." situations. It is illogical as to why they have parents pay for a "field trip" in the building, but to send your DS in and have him sit in the office would be punishing your son IMO. I would just keep him home like you said

That is not a field trip. A field trip has a class or group of kids LEAVE the building. What it is a poor allocation of the tuition you probably have already paid and they need to fund the musical group.

We have field trips at my center that are at an extra cost, but the children leave the building (game farm,disney on ice, planetarium, aquarium, etc.) it is completely optional and if parents choose not to send their child there is always a teacher that stays with them in the classroom. When we have people come in to entertain the children we eat the costs ourselves, we never ask the parents for money. I would be upset too.

I am just glad that his last day is Friday. I have had it with this daycare.
If your not happy that is the best thing to do. Enjoy your day with your DS

ITA. The tuition you pay if for your child to get daycare. Not sit in someone's office. I would have a HUGE problem with that. The fact that a kid does not go to a "field trip at 2" should not consitute a probleme for a daycare. Just tell them to get the personel to cover for the daycare service you are already paying for. DC is entitled to a room with toys, activities, diaper change, etc... just like any other day DC is at daycare.
