Thanks... we're considering it but can't find any real reviews online about whether these things actually work, and whether they damage the roof at all.
I'll do some more hunting - thanks!

the house we bought came with one - but the previous owner never had it blown out properly so it caracked over a winter - you definetly need to blow the system out properly
a friend has one and it works great for them
we have a dark power cover - that you can walk on - our pool is in the sun and it has been in the eighties since before memorial day weekend - so we eneded up with a different type of solar heater

I have to ask my DH why we went with a heat syphon (electric) as opposed to solar. I know he looked into it and it may have been because the filter was too far from the house.
