Some food questions...6-7-8 month olds.
DD is eating 3 meals a day plus 4 bottles. She's having cereal and fruit at breakfast and dinner, and a veggie and yogurt at lunchtime.
How do you know when its time to introduce other foods (besides baby food). My ped was kind of vague..said to introduce pastina around 8 months or whenever I think she may be ready...
Also, when do you drop from 4 bottles to 3?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me!

I think it depends on your child. Most people seem to introduce table food around 9 or 10 months. DS did (and stil has) some problems with gagging, so he has really only started to eat table food recently at a year. We introduced pureed meat at 9 months as well as egg yolks. Cheese was a good food for him, as was banana chunks. He didn't like pastina, so I have never given him much of that.
As for bottles, he still has four a day, though they are now half formula, half milk. He actually only drinks 3 bottles a day, and the fourth is in a sippy cup. He usually has a sippy of juice and water also.

Re: Some food questions...6-7-8 month olds.
Around 7 months I started to give DD some table food on my own like pancakes, or I would mix pastina in with her veggies. By her 8 month dr. visit, the dr. said I could try and give her whatever we were eating - just to be cautious of berries and egg whites. So since then she's had a lot like grilled cheese, mac n cheese, eggs, french toast, chicken marsala, noodles, meatloaf, etc. She never has had any issues with food texture or gagging so I've been lucky and she's love everything so far
Oh, at 8 months is when I dropped to 3 bottles. The dr. said to give her about 18 oz. a day so I did 5 oz in the morning about an hour after breakfast, 5 oz. and hour after lunch and 8 oz right before bed.

Re: Some food questions...6-7-8 month olds.
I introduced pastina around 7 months. I tried softer foods (pastina, mashed potatoes, rice, etc) when I saw him trying to chew his morning cereal. By 8 months DS was trying everything we had, and by 9 months he was rejecting most baby foods. Also stage 3 dinners are a little chunkier so you can try those and see how your little one does with chewing etc. As for bottles my ped said watch for their cues but I can’t help as DS is 12 months and still takes 5 bottles (30oz total) a day.
At 7 months we were told DS could have anything except, eggs (food made with eggs was fine), honey, nuts, and some cheeses. At 9 months he got the okay for eggs.
