***please don't move to pets--this isn't about a pet***
i spent the entire drive to work hysterical crying as well as the first half hour i was there because i saw the most heartless, cruel and inhumane thing today.
i was on the meadowbrook north merging onto the NSP east. i noticed a car pulled over to the right and a car DELIBERATELY hit a goose that was trying to cross the road!!!!!!! the car pulled over was trying to figure out what to do and some a**hole was beeping and then also DELIBERATELY ran over the goose as well!!!!!!! he could have gone around it!
the goose's friend was there trying to help him so i stopped in the middle of the exit ramp trying to figure out what to do. the car on the right then pulled right in front of the goose so he couldn't be hit again and the poor thing was struggling to move. people were beeping at me but i didn't care and wasn't moving
i knew there was nothing i could do as i'm 6 months pregnant and couldn't risk being bitten by a goose so i called 911. they connected me to the state police and i told them what was happening. they said they would send someone right over.
i was HYSTERICAL. i can't believe 2 people would do this. is getting to work fast that important that you could purposely do this??? and i KNOW it was on purpose because there was so much room around the poor thing. i'm so disappointed in humanity and can't believe that people can have so little regard for a helpless animal.
i just started taking that route and won't be taking it again. i just hope that i took that route today because i was meant to be the one to call 911. i didn't know what else to do 
i hope those 2 drivers rot in h*ll. i'm not one for vengeance, but i hope they get theirs 10 times worse one day.
i can't get the sight out of my mind. but at least i feel a little bit better getting it out.
please people---SLOW DOWN AND WATCH OUT FOR ANIMALS AND CHILDREN. nothing is so important that you would have to do that.

ITA i cant stand people who are cruel to animals. They always say that those people are more likely to hurt other people as well. Most serial killers get there start torturing animals first.

I would be flipping out!!!! I am so sorry you had to witness this, how terrible for you and for that poor goose.
I am furious reading this!!!!
Did you or anyone get that's ahole's plate??? Did 911 respond? What happened to the goose?
You must be traumatized. I am so sad, reading this horrible horrible story. I hope that guys gets hit when he tries to cross the road next time, I really mean it...

everything happened so fast. i wish i had gotten the plate but i couldn't believe what i was seeing. i still am so upset over the whole thing.
i posted asking if anyone works for the state police--that's who 911 put me through to. i would love to know what happened but i don't know how to find out.
i honestly hope the police responded and shot the goose to put it out of its misery. i know he couldn't be saved by a vet and i just pray he didn't suffer long. i also can't stop thinking about his friend/mate...he just stood by his side.

I'm so sorry you had to see that. I saw it myself one morning a few years ago on Lakeville Rd. involving 5 geese and it's heartbreaking. 
Try to put it out of your mind for tonight and relax.

Hearing this makes my stomach turn it make me so angry, I'm glad the goose died quickly, But, he should not have died at all people need to be more kinder to animals.. You know what they say right about Karma, what comes around goes around and may these guys get theres 10x's back!!

That is true. There have been a ton of studies done and many infamous serial killers began with torturing animals.
I would have rammed the people with my car. Seriously. This kind of thing disgusts me to the core.

I had a similar sad experince one day- I was driving on long beach road and a large turtle was in the lane- I nearly got hit trying to aviod it- which I did
the person in front of me hit it- and I can still remeber seeing the shell hit the pavement
I think about that turtle all the time

This is sooo sad and it brought tears to my eyes reading it and knowing that there are morons out there that could do this horrible thing to a llittle defenseless goose. I also found it so sad how you said it's mate or friend stood by it.. this makes me sooooo sad and I am so upset that this happened.
