some people can be so mean

I don't understand , when you post a new topic ,why some people somehow feel the need to be mean and rude about things, why can't they just nicely reply or not reply at all ( not naming names or posts, just venting)

cause we all are different, have different backgrounds, experiences, and are different people. And that's what makes LIF so great at times.

Sometimes people ask for advice or ask WWYD, even though they are venting and people tell them what they would do and it's taken personally.

I hope someone wasn't deliberatly trying to be mean.

I think it's difficult in a chat forum to catch the "tone" of what people sometimes say. Perception definitely plays a large role especially when one is asking for advice. Also, sometimes people really just want to hear that other people agree with them and then get their back up when people have a different opinion. Try not to take it personally

I agree that this is a public forum and often it is hard to "hear" a person's tone with just written words. I also agree that there are people who only want to hear that everyone agrees with them.

With that said, some people come off as "harsh" and accusatory in their responses.

I've encountered this myself. I just try and brush it off, but it's not that easy all the time.

OH I know I was just venting,LOL. I don't take anything personally(or I try not to ) and I didn't mean when someone doesn't agree with me.

Clearly, I wouldnt understand someone saying that they dont know what you mean. It is VERY evident who speaks in what tone all the time. For me its not about someone being rude or nasty one time...its a repeat pattern of watching that someone do it to myself or others ALL the time. To me its just obvious and undeniable.

If this was directed at me, I wasn't being mean. Before you edited your response it seemed like the typical "Can I have your opinion" and then get annoyed when someone doesn't agree with you post, which frankly I'm growing tired of. Now that you've clarified more I can understand where you are coming from, but I reacted based on what you'd written.

i always wondered about posts like this when they are made. If someone is being mean whether it be to you or another poster, why not call them out on it VIA FM instead of posting about it or them in a round about way.

I'm not trying to be harsh or rude at all, but everytime i see posts like this, it just makes me wonder what's the point? Most of the time it's a total misunderstanding or misread.

I agree with what everyone wrote here. It's sometimes hard to "hear" the tone of the written word....I try and reread posts and get the true sentiments of the poster before I react or form an opinion....

Additionally you are fairly new to the forum and a lot of us dont know you as well as we know some others. I may be able to post something that might seem a bit "harsh" to some but others on here that know me will know that I could never mean it that way and will help clarify the tone for me. Does that make sense???

I have seen people be mean on here and I have also seen people be too sensitive and take responses the wrong way.

I agree, no need to be passive-aggressive or make a vague post. If someone upset you, FM THEM

I tend to agree. I mean, we are all adults, all mothers on this board, and I think the best course of action is to handle any dispute like this in a manner we would hope our children will on the playground. If you feel someone was mean to you, just address it directly with them via FM.
