Some pics of our home construction-some updated pics page 2
We are in the process of adding a great room as well as a basement-we were on slab originally with no basement-hubby and FIL are doing all the work themselves and it's moving pretty quickly-it started mid Sept-here's some pics so far:

Well we had this planned out way before I even got pregnant. The house already has 4 bedrooms but the kitchen was small and no formal dining room. Now, my existing living room will be the dining room and this will be the living area and our kichen will extend out more plus we'll have the partial basement for a playroom since baby #2 will be taking the exisitng playroom over.

Lol-we will just thrown them in the basement and lock the door behind them...then we'll sit upstairs and have our OWN playgroup sipping yummy drinks

Danielle, you're an inspiration. Seriously. Because we're buying a 1 story ranch that looks a lot like that, and envisioning adding an extension for a bedroom just like this.
I'm amazed at how much progress has been done in one month! Did you hire outside contractors for anything yet? And are your DH and FIL open to other jobs when this is finished? 
Looks great so far!
Please keep us (me) up on the progress pictures. I'd love to follow along.

Thanks so much! We bought this house knowing we could expand. We love the neighborhood, the school but we couldn't afford a bigger house than this at the time. There are so many possibilites to do with a ranch-the hardest part of this was the basement.
My FIL is our contractor Plus my step dad is a contractor so we have lots of connections. My husband did hire someone to do the electric and for the sheetrock though. But pretty much it's just the 2 of them.

Is the mess right now driving you nuts?
The mess isn't toooo bad-they put a temporaray wall up so so far the rest of my house has been completely clean and untouched-a bit claustrophobic but no dust at least. It isn't the easiest to live through construction being 7 months pregnant and wanting to "nest" and get everything in order

its great that you have the room to expand. we have a ranch on a small plot so we cant go out and cannot go up since the whole neighborhood is all ranches. we do have a full basement which is one benefit. glad you have a handy family that can help. cant wait to see final pictures.
