Someone Called the Cops!
I can't believe this! I got home from a family BBQ around 8:30. I took DS out of his car seat and carried him to his crib. He was sound asleep. I went back for DD who was also sound asleep, but woke up as I was unhooking her harness. She cried the approximately 15 feet, from the car to the front door.
I no sooner get her in her crib, when a police car comes flying up in front of my house and the officer charges across the lawn. I immediately think something terrible happened to DH, who is working a security job tonight and hwom I haven't heard from since he left at 3:00. My legs felt like jello as I tried to run to the front - the longest 10 seconds of my life.
When I get to the door, the offficer dhine a spot light in my eyes, and says he is investgating a complaint about a crying baby. HELLO! When did that become illegal???
After explaining that I just came in and disrupted DD's sleep, he was OK, and tried to get me info on who made the complaint. Turns out it was an abandoned call from a cell phone.
We've lived in the same house from 10 years and never had a problem. Now I am sooo enraged I want to go out and flatten alll my neighbors tires! I can't believe any of my neighbors would do this.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Maybe they thought you forgot about the other kiddo in the car? I mean..they could have just came over and politely said something though! How annoying!
I didn't think they were allowed to give info on someone that put a call in for a complaint?  That's a little scary because I've called the cops on my previous neighbor (a potential drug dealer) and I would be LIVID if they gave him my info!!

That is insane. I often wonder what people think when we're washing DD's hair and she is screaming bloody murder.

that is so weird===they called about the 15 feet u walked with her crying? How do they know u aren't simply walking in the street and shes crying in the carriage?
I would def say it was malicious and someone is ****** for something...

That's what I was thinking. And to get there that quickly? It sounds like the baby was crying and they were there within minutes. I would think on a holiday weekend, they'd be much busier. I guess that's a good thing that they weren't. (not much crime/bad stuff going on.)

This is very bizarre, not to mention, messed up. This cop had to be, literally, right around the corner for him to get there so quickly. This just doesn't make any sense. People, really, need to mind their own business.

I'm still trying to make sense of this. I truly was not home more then 5 minutes. The motion detector over the garage was still on. The quick response makes me think the caller may have suggested abuse or something. After I explained that we had just come home and I was putting them to bed for the night, the cop called over the radio for more info. The dispoatcher told him it was an abandoned call from a cell phone number.
The only thing I can think of is that since both babies had double ear infections , and many nights this week they woke up crying - maybe it was a culmination of that???
I feel like someone is watching me.
