Re: Someone Called the Cops!
I am sorry you are going through this.
Since you are trying to make sense of this, I thought I would add my two cents.
Maybe someone saw your DD alone in the car and then called, thinking a child was left alone in the car? Could that be it? Then by the time the cops came, it was obvious no child was abandoned but they had to investigate anyway, so they asked about the crying?

Yeah but for how long???? When my DH is working overnight and I am out with my kids, I have to do this all the time - how else do you get small kids in the house when you are one adult....Sharon, how long was DD in the car, a minute? or less I'm guessing bc I know the routine from doing it. And who could see her in the car at 8:30 at night sleeping and if concerned, wouldn't notice that you just brought your DS in... Do you have a neighbor in particular that you suspect? That's EFFED up!!! I'm so p issed just reading this.

I'm sorry you are upset by what I wrote. I was just trying to figure out why on earth someone would call the cops. I am not saying that what Sharon did was wrong. I didn't say that I would do the exact same thing. And I didn't say calling the cops on this was right by any means.
I am just trying to figure out how someone can rationalize calling the cops. I just don't get it

Re: Someone Called the Cops!
I thought the same thing - that maybe someone was calling about the baby in the car alone. I have to do it too, carry one into the house & go get the other one.
Even if I saw a baby in the car alone, I wouldn't call the cops. I would wait with the baby so nothing happened until the mom came back. I would also knock on the door if it looked like the mom forgot about the baby.
Calling the cops is malicious IMO.

Re: Someone Called the Cops!
I would call the precint and file a complaint. It's not illegal for babies to cry..that is ridiculous.

Re: Someone Called the Cops!
That is so stupid! OMG why would someone call the cops because of a crying baby???
Is there someone in the neighborhood that you don't like and maybe that person knows you don't like them and hence that's why they did this to you? Have you had any arguements with anyone lately?

ITA with this. I don't know how fast the cops would come to your house for a crying baby, but for a baby in a car, they may come faster.
Now, I am not saying you did anything wrong at all. But maybe someone misread the situation Although, you'd think your neighbors would be aware of your situation

I wasn't upset by what you wrote in the least, it's shock on my part as well for the same reasons as you - why in the world would someone do that?? I just don't see a valid reason bc I can't imagine that anyone in their right mind could look out for a few seconds and decide to call the cops. Wouldn't they at least watch for at least a minute, at which point they would see her come back out. It kind of sounds like someone is trying to make trouble for her, which is effed up.

Re: Someone Called the Cops!
there is no way anyone could have seen DD in the car. Her carseat is backward facing and when she is snuggled in, you can't see her. For someone to know she was there, they would have had to be standing over my shoulder when I took DS out. Plus, she was sound asleep. I unlocked the house and turned on all the lights before i started to take the babies out of the car - she was left for under a minute.
A theory that was suggested to me was that since my neighbors on both sides and directly accross from me are away, ( we are taking in everyone's mail), someone was casing one of the houses, and testing to see how much time it would take for the police to respond.
I left a message for my cousin who is a cop in the precinct. I need to get that number again. A friend told me he could get it traced, even if it is a cell phone. I just gotta know who the @ssh@le is!
