Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
Probably bill collector. If your brother doesn't return their calls they think he might so they stop calling you.

when they call again tell them you have no idea where your brother is and to stop harassing you.
They have no business calling you and it's harassment.
A few months ago I got calls everyday for my XH. I told them we divorced 16 years ago
I called the # back and they told me he was being sued. I said "Well if you don't want to get sued STOP CALLING ME"
They did

Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
Sounds like a bill collector. Same thing happened to us -- one called looking for DH's sister a few years ago. It s=doesn't affect you in any way, so don't worry. The guy called once and never called back after we told him that she didn't live here, never did live here, and we didn't know where she was. Just tell them that if they call back.

Posted by Jennifer907 He must have listed you as a reference for some loan he took out.
if he did- he would have given my cell phone
this guy called on my house phone that I have never given out- we just have it so we can fax....
I hope it's just a bill collector
I don't even use my house phone for my credit cards, car etc- my listed number is always my cell
I move so much - my cell phone is the only consistant number I have
Bill collectors have many ways to find out how to get in touch with someone. They do what is called skip tracing. A skip tracer will search high and low. THere are many programs they use to find a debotr and it will also list thier relatives and their information. I am not sure if they can tell you what it is in reference to. Some do and some dont but i am not sure what the law is in NYS

I might be the only one who thinks maybe otherwise- I assume you and your brother lived under the same roof at some point and maybe that's why.
I once looked up my name on Zabasearch, and I was listed at my DH's old addy, even though I never lived there. He had a roommate at that address, and now he's listed at our current address. We get calls for him from time to time- telemarketers- and mail too, credit card solicitations. I really doubt it's a bill collector as this friend has not even lived in America for five or six years.
Just another possibility, albeit unlikely.
I never heard about this website... totally disturbing. DH and I are mercifully not listed on it, but a good portion of his family is

Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
It could also be a scam. My bil had a company calling his house asking for his father. It was a scammer saying he was going to collection if they didn't pay the debt for him. They had to change their number to get the jerk to stop calling And his father has no debt so it was a total scam.

Don't mean to hijack, but that website is really freaky.
I typed in my name, and it listed my Grandpa, Grandma, Dad, and Mom.
Where does this info come from?

Public records, credit reports, etc. I think it's all compiled by Lexis Nexis and they sell it to other companies.
One time I had to verify my identity for something...they asked me how old "Jane Doe" (my step mother) was. That was a litttle odd that they had her name! But then I thought about it..I lived with them for a short period of time, probably used that address on something and they matched that address up to the homeowner whom had the same last name as me. Freaky stuff!

we talked- my friend is going to help him
I feel better knowing that we are going to be able to take care of this- regardless of his stupidity -he is my brother and I want to help him-
I saved a strangers house from foreclosure this week- I can do the same for family-
they also called my sister this morning - but she didn't answer (she knew nothing about what is going on)

Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
Bill collector, definitely. Some a*hole called my parents because of my husbands debt. I called the guy and reamed him for calling my parents. He told me himself he can call anyone, even neighbors, to track anyone down. Scary.

Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
debt collector, my neighbor had a bill collector calling my house. I wasn't even friends with them and they just moved. I don't know how I was called at all and it weirded me out. When I googled where they said they were calling it it came up as a bill company. These places have creepy ways of tracking people down.

Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
there are services that list people and their neighbors and any known relatives, whatever your name/where you live. It is like a public records search. Banks use them just for this reason!

Re: Someone just called my house looking for my Brother
debt collector. They can find out your brothers relatives by doing a search on him. I searched for someone and it listed their relatives all previous and present addresses and phone contacts. I did it by last name and last known address!
