Well, for starters you aremaccross from something industrial, map it. Second, there looks like there is no property. Also looks like it may have been a 2 family at one point.

Whenever "appearance" is left blank, that's a major red flag. Actually, when "appearance" is anything less than "excellent," the house is usually half-falling down. Even if a house is listed as "Very Good" that means it needs major money put into it. Blank? Bad, bad sign.
I just checked: the house has been on the market for 332 days. It was originally listed at $329K and 7 months later they upped the price to $389. So I'm guessing they did a major "flip" of the house in the meantime.

short sale, small lot, in Hempstead and right across the street from 100 Rose Ave - which is Aircore Inc - auto parts distributor and a few other businesses.

It's so subjective and depends on your price range but for starters I'd recommend:
Old Bethpage
Plainview
Franklin Square*
West Hempstead*
Garden City
South Merrick
Merrick Woods
Jericho
*watch your school district - opp for Franklin Square.
