Re: Someone tell me about these SLR cameras

They take pictures really quickly. Especially in natural light, when a flash isn't needed, the picture is instantly captured....which is the reason I wanted one - so I could catch all of the cute little faces and expressions. If you hold the button down, it will continue to take pictures, so you can almost make a flashbook of your baby doing something.
And the pictures have amazing quality.
They're worth every penny.

Re: Someone tell me about these SLR cameras

Apart from the resolution, I find that the best for me is that I can capture those moments I could never get before.

You know, that silly face, 1st smile, etc... It was gone by the time I took the pic.

Those descriptions above are the exact reasons I want one too. I've been begging for one for a while now!

Re: Someone tell me about these SLR cameras

These are all the reasons I want one-the frames per second feature most of all. I hate my point and shoot because by the time the stupid thing focuses the picture is gone.

Which lens does that? I'm probably getting an SLR very soon, still not sure which one. But I may have to add that lens. Chat Icon That sounds like a great effect.

I was supposed to find out for Tine as well...I promise to look tonight and let you both know...but I think it's the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX zoom lens

You can get this effect by setting your aperture. It's an effect you can get on any DSLR.

Re: Someone tell me about these SLR cameras

Steph Mike just bought me the Nikon D40 which is the "lowest" model. It was fine for me because I was taking some pretty good pics with my point and shoot-like others said it is so much nicer to take pic after pic with no wait. Mine came as a kit from Abes of Maine. I got the camera the 18-55 lens(which I already want the 200 for close ups so I will ask for that for my birthday from Diane and Marty maybe) a high speed 4 gig memory card and long life battery for $550. I have a coupon code if you want it. I was very happy with their service. i searched for a discount code and received my order next day even though it was ground
