The circumcisions done at a jewish ceremony uses a quicker technique. Not all of the hospitals will do it the same way. So it may be true that there is less pain, however, after having done over a hundred myself, using the gomco bell technique, there certainly is pain-even with 2 injections of lidocaine and sugar water to calm them.

Yes, I figured this out when Dr. singer told me she'd be right back with my baby!

Wow how did this get bumped?
We did not circumcise DS, but the Dr asked us in the hospital what our plans were. I told them we were undecided and they decided not to do it bc DS had a shortened scrotal web. The Dr also told us that if we knew of another Dr that was affiliated with our hospital that we could call them in since I was there for 5 days with my c-section recovery. I also could have called the Ped if they were qualified.

My OB/Gyn did my sons circumsision, I really didn't think of it as odd though. I mean, he took care of the baby the whole 9 months and all.

There are pediatricians that do them.
Thats kinda scary since they are not sopposed to.
of course they need to be certified to do it but they are absolutely qualified to do it. Nowadays, they are being done more by the pediatrician than the ob.. at least in the hospital i work in.
