Sort of an Intro..Long..Sorry
Hi Ladies!
I've posted on here quite infrequently but am a bit of a lurker. I decided to participate bc I've seen what an open, strong and helpful group you all are!
All little background:
ME: 34
DH: 30
Started TTC in December and got PG right away, even though I have irregular cycles. RE thinks it's a hypothalmus issue rather than PCOS..I have the "string of pearl" ovaries and irregular cycles but I don't have any symptoms or typical BW of a PCOS patient.
Unfortunately the PG was ectopic. We learned that I was PG later than we should have (I started bleeding and assumed it was AF the day after I got a BFN). By the time we found out the OBGYN thought it might be too late for the metho shot but gave it to me anyway. In the end I needed my left tube removed one week later 
Got AF in mid March and had HSG-right tube was deemed open/normal.
When I didn't get AF by May I said enough is enough I need to see a specialist, even though by OBGYN said it was "silly and a waste of time."
This is where I learned I was not going to have an easy time with my irregular cycles and only one tube.
I was given Clomid in June and had no response and also had terrible side affects, including a weird rash.
July I did a 4 injection course of Follistim. It worked brilliantly. At the time of trigger I had four great follicles..2 on the left and two on the right. Unfortunately I got AF last week
Went in for CD3 sono and BW. Dr nearly gasped when he insterted the sono probe. Apparently in between the morning of my last visit and the trigger shot that night a bunch more follies grew. At CD3 he saw a total of 7 that all matured. Apparently that is an unusually good respone to a starter dose of Follistim.
Anyway the bad news is that he thinks we didn't acheive pregnancy bc we are not dealing with MF and he thinks my egg quality is fine bc I have low FSH 3.2
He thinks my other tube is just not working and I should be grateful I'm not dealing with another ectopic right now.
We've made the decision to move to IVF bc if my tubes are shot there really is no other way.
I'm thrilled that we have the technology to do this and give us a chance. Although, our insurance stinks so we will be shelling a lot of our savings (this bothers DH more than me) AND I just am terrified it won't work. I always felt IVF would be my last resort. If that doesn't work, then what will 
We are set up for the September cycle. I'm on BC right now.
Well it feels good to finally introduce myself and feel like I am part of a group of ladies that actually "get me." If one more person tells me to relax or adopt I might be on the cover of Newsday for doing something really bad to someone

Welcome to the boards. It took me a long time to post, too! It was a good decision!!!
It's not easy, I am sorry for all you have gone through. I am sure you are doing the best thing with moving on to IVF. I wish you all the best of luck!!

i couldnt agree more. everytime ive had a question someone was always there to answer. i wish you the best of luck and hope your stay is short.

Dr. Braverman at SIRM in Woodbury. I know he isn't an RE but he was my OBGYN forever before he sold his practice to start a SIRM office on LI. I adore him and his staff.
