sorta parenting related cake question
I am ordering a cake for DDs party. I have 45 adults and 12 kids (but most are under the age of 2 including 2 infants) my parents are telling me to only get it for 40 people since some won't get cake and the servings will likely be smaller than what the baker sets it for. WWYD? TIA!

Left over cake is NEVER a bad thing. 
It is better to be safe than sorry. I would get enough cake for the number of guests you expect. I can not imagine that the price would be that different from 40 to 55 guests.

I agree with both of these points. But I'd probably base my calculation on 45 + 6 (12 1/2 pieces).

I dkk where u live but I got a cake for alittle less people and then ordered the mini-gourmet cupcakes-==it was insane!
I had left overs and it was cheap the cupcakes-my kids--always get the giant cupcake so they can smash it.
Dortonis in levitown.
we got a napoleon cake with carmel layer.
Everyone said it was the best they ever had.

I always order less cake, and always have leftovers (which wind up getting thrown away or sent home with guests).
We're not big cake eaters.
