South Bay OBGYN
I'm about 6 1/2 weeks pregnant & just left my former OBGYN practice & am looking for one closer to home (in West Islip) - anyone have any reviews of South Bay OBGYN? I called today & they scheduled me an appointment for this weekend, which I thought was fast, but I have also seen some negative commentary on them as well. I'm really in need of a practice that has evening & weekend hours (I work far from home) to accommodate my schedule - any other suggestions?
Thanks!

I used to go there and didn't like it. There are so many different doctors and I feel like you never see the same one twice.

I used to go there when I first started going to the gyno when I was a teen. I HATED that practice! I had several problems with my period when I was younger and they refused to listen to any of my concerns.

Re: South Bay OBGYN
HATED IT. Had a creepy old guy doctor (can't remember his name, but I can find it...), and they never had a nurse in the room for exams. He stuck his finger up my butt without warning me too. I just think it's unprofessional not to have a nurse in the room when a male doctor is giving you an internal.
And there were always HUGE wait times in the office (not to get appointments, but once you are there). WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

Re: South Bay OBGYN
I disagree with the above posters. I have been going here for years, and am happy with them for the most part. There are many doctors, but most of them are very good, and the only time the wait is excessive is if there are alot of emergencies, and that has only happened to me 2 times in my entire pregnancy. The nurses are all very nice too. Obviously, liking or not liking a doc's office is a matter of personal preference, but I think that it is great office.

Re: South Bay OBGYN
My sisters have used them and had no problems. However, I have heard my share of negative comments about them. When I was in L&D the other day the nurse there was saying how not many hospitals are crazy about them. Also, I know my perinatalogist won't accept any patients that go there.

Re: South Bay OBGYN
Don't know if the specific doctor I was seeing when I was TTC my DS is still there- but I had a really unfortunate experience with him....I was experiencing IF and he really wasted my time and put me on Clomid for 7 months without properly monitoring me , never really addressing my concerns etc....I left there, saw an RE ( which I should have been referred to in the 1st place) and was PG 3 months later ....He's the only one I dealt with there though...

Re: South Bay OBGYN
I go there. And while there can be a long wait I have had no problems. This is my second child and saw a different doctor for my first. I was so unhappy there.
This place might be a little hectic at times (because there are 8 doctors) but everytime I had a test done, a few days later they was a message left, without even calling them for the results. I love that aspect. Its important me. I see one doctor most ofthe time. I just make sure I make an appointment when he is available.
The only thing I dont really like is its sometimes difficult to get in touch with the receptionist. They are so busy on other calls that sometimes they dont pick up and you have to keep calling.
They have to be decent doctors if they are always crowded. Thats teh way I see it at least.

Re: South Bay OBGYN
I go there and like it. The first Dr I saw I was not crazy about, but I switched Dr's and love the one I'm seeing now. I've never had a problem getting an appointment with her. There is a wait sometimes, but I find that with most Dr's offices there is a wait. I like that there are a lot of Dr's in the practice because I know if there is an emergency I will see someone if my Dr in not there.

Re: South Bay OBGYN
I have been going there for 2 years- this is my 2nd pregnancy with them and my biggest complaint is the wait. I have had uneventful pregnancies (thank god) so its pretty routine. My sister has had gynecological issues and they have taken very good care of her, testing, follow ups, surgery, etc. I do sometimes feel like a chart # and not a person, but im not really looking for a relationship with the Dr's, as long as im healthy, baby is healthy, that is all i really care about. If you like to really know your Dr and like an intimate practice, this would not be the one to look in to.
