South Nassau or Lij new Hyde park
Ugh so confused I'm almost 30 weeks and I am not happy with the hospital my midwife delivers from.
So I went to south Nassau hospital tour where one of her colleagues delievers I haven't met him yet. But there are also another colleague of hers that delievers at Lij. I don't know them either. My question is which hospital would u prefer to deliever in?
Also I was thinking of changing practices completely and going with women for women I like the idea of an all women practice.
Ugh I'm so confused

I had my DS at South Nassau almost 4 years ago and had an AMAZING experience..also, all of the rooms are private, which is nice.
I am planning on delivering there again this time, i hope its just as good.

LIJ just opened a BRAND NEW Women's Center where you would be delivering. All women have private rooms, bathrooms. I heard that the bassinets are made of wood and are gorgeous.
I delivered there 2 years ago and will be delivering there again. It's just a larger hospital with more there and I feel comfortable being there knowing that it is a hospital equipped for everything.
The highly rated children's hospital is attached so god forbids something happens you're right there. My friend delivered at a smaller hospital and her baby was taken from her and sent to LIJ while she was recovering from her csection elsewhere. That is enough reason for me.

I'll be delivering at South Nassau. I've had to go to L&D twice in the past two weeks for BP monitoring, and both times the nurses were super nice (as were the rooms!). My friend also delivered here and had great things to say about the hospital and the NICU.

my cousin just delivered at the new LIJ hospital, it was a very nice hospital, she had her own private room. Kinda makes me wish I was delivering there too!

if you asked me 6 mo ago id say south nassau, but the new LIJ hospital is GORGEOUS and they have Cohens Childrens NICU right next door so LIJ absolutely wins that one.

I am delivering at South Nassau, and the rooms are beautiful. I have no qualms about delivering there, but since the new LIJ opened, if I was first choosing between the two, I would go with LIJ for its NICU. All of my friends who have delivered at South Nassau have had good experiences though, and I love my doctor, so I wasn't looking to switch.

Totally agree! I was all set on South Nassau, picked an OB who is a women specifically based on the fact that I wanted SN. They have private rooms, they are close to me and the parking seemed easier, no garages. At 20weeks my sono showed an omphaloceole and it was known that surgery right away was a possibility. I was directed to LIJ and I had to find a new OB right away. I used Dr. Traugott in Garden City and loved him. I was a little nervous at first since I had seen a women OB for at least 10 years so it was a little tough to all of a sudden see a man. He was great, late hours, gentle and his office was clean. I ended up wit pre-eclampsia at 32 weeks and he did my c-section. I was in the old wing at LIJ but the nurses were AMAZING!! They were so nice. My son was in the NICU for 39 days so Im glad we decided on LIJ, the doctors were great. We walked through the lobby of the beautiful new wing and it is beautiful. Good Luck!

Both of my son's were delivered at LIJ and now this little guy will be delivered in their new center.
I can't wait! From what I have seen myself and what I have heard from others it's fantastic.
I also like that Cohen's Children's Hospital at the same location.
