South Side Hospital???
Has anyone delivered there or going to deliver there. I am in the process of looking for a new Dr. and one of them only delivers at South Side. Not sure about that Hospital and was looking for feedback... Good or Bad. TIA!!

I know 2 people who delivered there. One delivered twins. They both had nothing but good things to say about their experience

My aunt delivered 5 of her 6 kids there, she loved it. Everytime we went to visit her, we had no problems.

I will be delivering there.
So far, I have heard nothing but good things, and I have spoken to people over in the L & D department and they have been very helpful with setting me up with lamaze and child care classes.
Also, Sweetcin delivered there and I know she said that she had a great experience.

Thanks for the responses. I've only been there once to visit my father in law when he had a kidney stone. I wasn't very impressed but that was about 3 or 4 years ago and obviously wasn't the maternity ward. So who knows???

I delivered there & LOVED it. First off I heard not so great things about other parts of the hospital & at first when I found out my dr. doesn't use Good Sam anymore, I was upset. BUT, they were FANTASTIC!
Also the maternity ward was just redone; the rooms are nice. They have 10 private rooms (Good Sam has 1). You can keep your baby all night (24/7).
The nurses couldn't do enough for you; they do everything they can to make you comfortable. They were pretty flexible w/ visiting hours & very helpful.

Between my aunt, a friend & a coworkers wife, 5 VERY happy deliveries at Southside! They all LOVED it!

Me too!! I use them and i'm delivering at South Side too. Didn't they just redo the maternity section?

I also use Oakdale OB/Gyn and had my DD at southside and will have this one there as well. It was a wonderful experience as far as the hospital goes, my DD and I both recieved great care! It was also very clean!

I used to work there and their maternity ward is nice, they were doing construction while I was there. And the nurses were very nice as far as I can remember!---don't worry I'm not biased I didnt work on that floor, I was in the lab.

another Oakdale OBGYN girl.
They redid the entire hospital. The correct name for it is NSLIJ. But we will always refer to it as southside.
The staff is great.
B]*****very important******
if you don't want to share a room with another girl, you must request to have a private room ahead of time. Do it when you admit yourself in. Have DH do it. It's $125 a day, so a total of $250. IMO it is totally worth it. I wanted to be alone and no worry about who the person i shared with had in there. I didn't want a zillion germs. I wanted to be with my baby and DH. And have my own company only come visit. i didn't want a total stranger next to me. So for those who really would like privacy I totally recommend getting a private room.
