Southwest Airlines - and ISLIP airport - how are they!?!? **edited with new question!**
Never flew them before and was wondering how everyone feels about them!?!?
We are in Queens - so LGA is the obvious choice - but southwest out of Islip is the cheapest - is it worth the hour drive
We are going to Orlando !?!
ETA: does southwest do price adjust/credit if the fare goes down (like Orbitz and JetBlue ) ???

I fly southwest because I'm 10 minutes from Islip. They are ok. You get two free bags per person. I absolutely cannot stand that you dont get an assigned seat though. You also get no inflight entertainment. I'd rate jet blue higher. However, MacArthur Airport is MUCH easier to navigate than JFK or LGA
On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate southwest a solid 5. I wish Islip would get more competing airlines!

Compared to flying out of LGA, Islip is a lot easier! And the two free bags is a great perk.
I flew Southwest recently for work and they now have free tv if you have a phone, laptop or tablet to watch it on.

Yes southwest will give you a credit if the price goes down. The credit must be used wihin one year of the date of the original purchase. The credits can't be used for purchasing early bird check in. The credit must be used by the ticketed passenger -so if you bought 4 tickets for your family and the price goes down by $10 a ticket, you get a total credit of $40 BUT if six months later you buy a ticket for just one member of your family, you'd only be able to use the $10 credit asdignef to the original passenger

Southwest Airlines - and ISLIP airport - how are they!?!? **edited with new question!**
I love Southwest, and really prefer it for the convenience of it being so close. It's often more expensive than Jetblue these days, but I still prefer it since I live nearby. I guess for you it depends on how much of a savings it is.

If its less money, then I say yes. Honestly going through Islip with little kids is a breeze where as JFK or LGA is just a pain! if at all possible when we travel with teh kids we use ISP, its just soooo much easier (but it is only 15 mins from our house as well!)

Check-in, security, etc is so much easier at islip because it is so small but I despise the no assigned seating, especially traveling with kids. It just adds an extra level of stress to flying with little ones, which is already stressful enough.

imo - yes its worth the drive...esp with kids. i also live in queens and always fly out of LGA but over the summer flew islip for vacation and loved it no lines, no crowds, much easier
the no assigned seating can be tough - i heard a lot of people complaining that they paid the early bird check in but had high numbers.

This doesnt bother me, If you are flying with a child under 4 you get the second seating group, First is the people who paid extra, I think its up to 60 ppl. Then its families. We have never had any issues even when we flew with 10 ppl, we had kids so we were all able to sit back to back or next to each other.
