Southwest cancelled flight

I have flown southwest to fla so much. Today flight was cancelled. I am told due to whether yet their other flights have gone out and are still scheduled. Has this happened to anyone? Has anyone been compensated?

You should definitely try to get them to give you a voucher for a future flight. If they are getting you out on another flight in a reasonable amount of time, then they may say no. But otherwise, you stand a good chance. I highly doubt they will refund you even a portion in cash, but a Southwest voucher is a reasonable expectation.

Maybe the plane you were supposed to go on wasn't able to make it in due to weather?

Most airlines have a clause that they are not responsible for giving any sort of reimbursement due to weather but, it's worth a try.

If they cancelled the flight you will be refunded. That is it. You can try but they most likely won't give you anything else. Airlines have the rights to cancel flight especially for weather.

Weather doesn't always mean what is going on outside your window. It could be what is going to come in during your flight pattern, where the crew is, where the crew needs to get to next. There is also back log from flights being cancelled the last few days and it takes time to get everything back on schedule.

I was supposed to fly out on AA a few weeks ago, and the flight was cancelled because of fog. They put me on a different flight which wouldn't have worked for me, so they refunded everything. I didn't get a voucher because they offered to put me on another flight, and I "declined"..

Southwest will not give you anything outside of a free rebook. If you don't take the rebook, they will just refund your original fare.

If the flight was cancelled due to weather then they do not have to give you anything. If it was due to something within their control then you might get something.

They are claiming weather but all their other flights today going to and from the same place were not cancelled. My dad took this exact flight a few days ago and half the flight was empty so I am thinking this was not full enough and they are claiming weather.

I'm actually on gogo inflight on my way to Dallas on Delta right now-- my flight was cancelled yesterday and rebooked for today. The actually cancelled three of the flights yesterday but some others went out, two were delayed this morning but thank goodness I did get it. I would believe that it was weather related.

Not a chance in hell. Southwest does not run round trip flights (one plane going back and forth between destinations all day). Their planes go all over the place and take random routes.

So that plane may go from ISP to FLL, then it will go to Atlanta then maybe BWI then back to ISP. If they cancel your route purposely they are shooting themselves in the foot regarding their subsequent routes.

I wasn't insinuating they use the planes roundtrip. I was curious why all the other Southwest planes went to the same location from LI an hour later or an hour before and vice versa without being cancelled due to weather. If it is weather related, hard for me to understand why the other planes were able to get in from same location and go out to same location all day and not this one.
