Spaghetti Squash
I made this for the first time last night and it was a big hit with DH. He asked that we make this a weekly staple for dinner. What other ways can I prepare this? Last night I melted a bit of butter and garlic and served it with turkey kielbasa and grilled asparagus.

Spaghetti Squash
I put meat sauce or marinara sauce on it. I just started it eating and now I have it every week.

Re: Spaghetti Squash
I love it as a primavera type. Tomato sauce, parm cheese, roasted veggies, etc.

What is this? Do you buy the spaghetti squash or make it from scratch?

It's in the produce section. Here is a picture. You cut in half long ways, put it face down in a little bit of water and microwave it. You can do it in the oven too (never tried it that way). Once cooked, you take a fork and shred it. It looks like then short spaghetti noodles.
ETA: It really has no flavor so you definitely have to put something on it.Image Attachment(s):

Re: Spaghetti Squash
Thanks for the suggestions, DH loves pasta so this will be a replacement every now and then.

Re: Spaghetti Squash
We replace pasta with it and make a thick meat sauce and eat it weekly... It satisfies my pasta cravings since I've given up pasta

Re: Spaghetti Squash
I made a skinny taste recipe -- Cheesy Spaghetti Squash -- that was sort of mac and cheese made with spaghetti squash instead of pasta. It was sooo good!

Re: Spaghetti Squash
I just serve it with fresh tomato sauce, cheese and lots of seasoning ( garlic, salt, pepper, oregano). I then eat it with a side salad or side veggie. I love it! I also have two other recipes pinned on pinterest. Here they are if you are interested, they both look yummy! http://cleaneatingchelsey.com/2011/08/05/creamy-spaghetti-squash-primavera/
here is a sauce that would go well with it: http://greatist.com/team/my-creamy-avocado-pasta

Spaghetti Squash
Mine always seems too watery. Would microwaving it instead help maybe? I've been doing it in my toaster oven.

That sounds great! I make it like any other pasta as well. I've added it to regular pasta too so I don't eat as much pasta if I'm hungry.

Re: Spaghetti Squash
If you poke holes all over it with a fork, you don't need to add any water when you nuke it.
I make it with butter and grated cheese. Delish!

Re: Spaghetti Squash
I bake it in the oven with a drizzle of olive oil. I shred it and mix it with shrimp garlic and oil. I'm having a hard time finding them now are they out of season??

Bump...saw some others asking.
i am loving this vegetable. i boiled it tonight in halves & added grass fed butter (wow, btw) and some Himalayan pink salt & just wow. the consistency didn't come out as expected, but it was still goood. gunna try baking next time.
i gave it to my kid with some creamy tomato sauce & i have not even seen him eat pasta that way. devoured. what a treat when you give up pastas.

Pink Salt
Himalayan pink salt isn't your average table salt. Hand-harvested and minimally processed, it contains 84 minerals and trace elements that are highly beneficial for the body including magnesium, calcium, copper, potassium and iron "Regular consumption of Himalayan pink salt provides essential minerals, trace elements, balances electrolytes, supports proper nutrient absorption, eliminates toxins, balances the body's pH, normalizes blood pressure, and increases circulation and conductivity,"

Interesting! I don't use a lot of added salt, but might look for it.
Where do you buy it? Whole Foods?
