Speaking of inspections...
As the buyer, should I be there for the whole thing?

Yes, you should be there for the entire thing. Don't you want to know if there is something wrong with the house? The seller is normally not there. Their realtor usually stops by though.

You, as the buyer, should be there. The inspector will usually point out things you should be aware of -- not just defects, but recommendations for home maintenance and info for your general knowledge. While the report is useful to have, you usually walk away from the inspection knowing if there is a major issue to address or if you are good to move forward. Plus, you need to pay the inspector at the end of the inspection,
In my experience, if the home is occupied, the seller is often there. I think that's fine -- even helpful.. While the seller shouldn't follow the inspector around or interfere, it can be useful to have them available for questions.
In my opinion, the realtors should always be there. The listing agent to represent the seller, and the buyers agent to help the buyer navigate through any issues. It's part of the job.

Thank you for your reply! The sellers will be home and I just wanted to make sure being there is normal, I see the benefits to staying. I'm a naturally awkward person and this is my first house.

Totally normal. It was so awkward b/c the sellers were there, having dinner, kids doing hw, and we were just roaming the house from room to room. But it's definitely normal.
ETA: It was also good that they were there b/c they were able to show us where certain things were.
