speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
I am, of course, putting an insane amount of pressure on myself to get him the outfit for the ages I am knocking myself silly trying to figure out what he should wear.
should we find a shirt that goes with his "theme"? jeans vs. overalls. dark wash vs. light. pockets or no pockets
I just hate when I get like this....so focused that it's almost paralyzing.
if you had/have a theme, did you baby dress to that theme?

Well our theme was Sesame Street. Sooo. nope.
I really didn't put too much thought into it.. I kept meaning to but, it kept getting put on the back burner. Finally, we were at BRU with my Mom and she saw a cute outfit that she liked so I said, "you should buy it for him for his party". And she did. Problem solved.

Way too much. It's always this way, not just for birthdays-it's every holiday.
I get caught up in dresses and now with DS, I get caught up in the coordination of outfits.
It's a problem, but there is no group for me yet...

Do you know how many conversations I had with a vendor on etsy about a first birthday shirt??? It's ridiculous.
& now I don't know what I want to do.
Match theme but that is like Dr. Seuss overload or just match the "color" OR just get one that I just think is cute!

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday.
I'm not putting that much thought into it. I think I'm going to match her theme, I'll order from etsy and that's about it.
However, I do think I have it easier dressing a little girl. I think there are more cute options.

Mine was easy but hard at the same time because we're doing a halloween theme party and hes going to be wearing a costume...but deciding on the costume? Not easy...

this may be getting more thought than my wedding dress
although I did think of your theme this morning. Luce is wearing a Dr. Seus onesie that is the body of the Cat in the Hat up to the neck, making Luce's face the face of the CITH.
maybe you could find something like that. I bought my at Century, but it's short sleeved.

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday.
Also, just to add.
I try to get the kids something to match the theme, but sometimes you can build a theme to go with the outfit. It's that ridiculous.
I wanted DD to wear this dress for her birthday:
And decided to find a theme that matched it (doing Mod monkey). There is a T-shirt and tutu set that would fit the theme more, but I wanted THIS dress and it is pink and the mod monkey is girly so it goes. I spent tons of time thinking it through though of course

Not much thought. I know I like traditional/nostalgic/vintage baby rompers and I knew I was doing sock monkeys and had the fabric so I made it myself. Etsy was a great inspiration tool.

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
You know what's funny. In the shower this morning, I was like "I feel like I'm planning my wedding all over again, I need to stop" LOL but HEY he only turns one ONCE and it's the biggest celebration!!!
I was thinking about just a Dr. Seuss onsie too and just buying a #1 and putting it on the back but that one sounds super cute! Decisions. . .Decisions.
side note- little girls have WAY better choices then boys

Not a whole lot. I knew I wanted a Carter's birthday boy shirt, settled on the navy one, like navy with khakis, so put him in his favorite pair of khakis.

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
I am obsessed with my boys Party outfits....obsessed
That being said I like a certain look and I dont like characters so they looked more sporty neat for their events as opposed to themey
I dont like the overly dressed kid (e.g. suit and tie)--I go for style and flair....sporty but awesome.....
this is why I am a mother of 2 boys....i would drive my daughter mad

I put too much thought into EVERYTHING I plan. His christening is next weekend and I'm thinking about my next project, his 1st birthday in less than 6 months! I'm trying to find a cute winter one-derland outfit.

Denise...did you make his crown too?!
my biggest problem is my theme. there really isn't much selection in the way of clothes (at least on this side of the atlantic) so I may have to have a shirt made if I want to go that route.
bugger!! this is so hard!

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
We didnt' have a theme to her party, but I still put an insane amount of thought into what to dress her in because, well, it was fun to do that My sister did a farm theme for my nephew's first bday and she dressed him in dark washed overalls and a plaid shirt and boots

Yes, they did. While my planning is low key they always dress to the theme.
We had a snow white theme- she wore a snow white dress. We had a minnie theme she wore a minie dress.
If it were cup cakes then I'd do a cupcake dress etc.

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
Um... Yeah -- wayyyy too much thought and time. I actually bought her 3 different dresses before I decided on one I loved and it cost way too much money for something she would wear only once! Luckily, however, I got to have her wear it a 2nd time for my sister's wedding! She was so cute in it though, it was worth it!

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
I put hardly any thought into it at all. DS wore a tshirt and a pair of shorts that had nothing to do with his first birthday or his birthday theme!
Now when DD turns 1 this December, it might be a different story, but I'm not sure yet!

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
I did put a lot of thought into what my DC wore on their first b-days. My DS's theme was Dr. Seuss. i went crazy finding a Dr. Seuss shirt and cat the hat cap he could wear. I had a Halloween party for my DD and she was Tinkerbell. I looked at some many different Tinkerbell outfits on E-bay before I decided on a vendor to use. I had a certain look I wanted her to have and luckily I found a vendor that made the costume exactly how I imagined it. I know it's crazy.

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
OMG - do not even ask!! I was on the hunt for a perfect polka dot dress. I searched forever. Found one on Ebay. Lost about 5 auctions. Then got one - too big. Sold that one and then started again. I would up finding it but coast an arm and a leg for a $20 dress. It was almost like a game at the end!

Re: speaking of parties....how much thought did you put into what your child wore on his/her first birthday?
We did a Backyardigans party so no, we didn't dress her to match the theme. I just wanted something really cute and girly. When I saw her bday dress I just knew that was the one. I grabbed it and never looked back. I LOOOOOVVVVVED my DD's dress.
